Osa's Pov

"I will find all of you!" His voice shouted from the distance. We ignored it and ran faster. If we stopped He'd get us. Kayin picked me up when I tripped over a root. The others were struggling to push through the harsh winter. Our feet couldn't fare well for too long in the snow.

I looked up at Kayin. His mouth was set in a firm line as he noticed our friends situation. "They won't last," I said.

"They have to," he said.

"He'll catch us at this rate."

I could see it in his eyes as he debated what to do. "The river. We could use the river," Kayin decided.

I nod and shout for the others to follow us. By the time we got to the river, our enemies had gotten significantly closer. Alice and Bobby quickly conjured a big enough raft for all of us. The smallest ones went first. Kayin helped out on to the raft. It was just him and Masa left on the bank.

"C'mon, you two," I yelled against the raging wind.

We were having a hard time keeping the raft in place with the current. "Stay where you are!"

His pale eyes peered through the thick forest. I spotted the same look in his eyes he wore whenever he would teach a lesson. Someone would always get hurt. They had finally caught us. That was it. He was going to take us back and punish us. The little ones began to cry.

"We aren't going back," Masa told Him. Masa had always protected all of us. It didn't come as a surprise to anybody when he charged. But we still called for him to come back. There was too many to fight.

Kayin looked back at me. "Take care of them, Osa," he said before pushing our raft away from the bank.

Arms wrap securely around me, waking me up from my nightmare. Sea green eyes stare down at me in concern. "Darling, are you alright?"

"Yeah," I answered. "Just a bad dream."

Troy was used to my nightmares. I'm glad he never asked about them. My past wasn't meant to be shared yet. "I just wanted to say goodbye before I left," Troy said.

I sat up to be at his eye level. "Can you at least stay for breakfast?"

He shook his head. "I wish I could, but I'll be late for my morning class."

"Have fun."

Troy kissed the top of my head as he slipped my glasses on my face. "You know I'd rather be with you than in some boring class about politics."

I got up from the bed and wrap my arms around his waist. "I don't want to interfere with your education. I'll text you later, honey." I gave him a real kiss before he headed out.

Breakfast consisted of deformed pancakes and ripe fruit. I really needed to learn to cook. My cat, Fluffy, had a better meal than me. That Meow Mix kept her happy. She never appreciated the trouble I went through to get her the best cat food. Seeing that it was almost ten in the morning, I decided to get ready for work. Unlike my boyfriend, I don't go to college. My job at the bookstore barely covered the rent for the apartment. Ms. Collins was a kind elderly woman who had a love for books. The bookstore only had seven employees. Only three of them were boys. It just showed how superior females are.

My phone began to ring on the kitchen table. "Hello."

"Hey, Osa. We need to talk."

I sighed at her tone of voice. "Meet me at the food court at noon."
