Troy's Pov

It pained me every time to lie to Osa like that. She was always understanding and it wasn't fair to her that I abused that. But how would she react if I told her that I was a son of Neptune and praetor of Camp Jupiter, home to demigods? Osa would think I was crazy. It was best for me not to say anything right now. Once I got off the phone with her I turned back to my co-praetor. He was shaking his dark hair in pure disappointment.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh, nothing. It's your life," Aris said.

"You know she can't find out about my life."

Aris hummed in response. "Anyway, we have your quest to discuss."

We continued our walk into the senate meeting. Everybody was already seated when they took their places on the dais. Aris walked up to the podium overlooking the semicircle of tiered chairs. All of the senators filled the rows in front of the ghosts and veterans. The members of the quest were seated on the left side of everyone. Well, we there was one member missing.

Aris raised his hand to quiet the room. "We have assembled today to vote on the quest to investigate the recent attacks. As you all may have heard we've had campers brutally and some deadly ambushed. We don't know who is conducting this, but those who have fully recovered have said to seen some type of big animal."

Everyone slumped in their seats at the information. "Well, it is in our best interest to have our best quest goers be a part of this then," Nathan of the First Cohort said.

"We are sending campers after them when they are hunting us?" Emily from the Third spoke out.

"Someone has to find out what's going on," a ghost said. Some of them nodded in agreement.

"Too many things are uncertain. Let's wait until there is more evidence," Tate of the Second suggested.

"You mean another body," a senator said.

Arguments began to break out. Most were against the idea of the quest. They thought it was too rash of us to go. It was easy for them to say that since they didn't see the broken bodies of the victims. People who I had known for years attacked senselessly. I needed to go on the quest to figure out what was doing it.

"Silence!" Aris shouted. Everybody quickly went quiet. His dark eyed glare met every individual in the room. He cleared his throat before continuing. "We discuss matters civilly here. Remember that." Aris looked back at me and gestured for me to speak.

I replaced his spot at the podium. "This quest is the only way we can kill the monster that did this. Understand that more of us could become victims," I said. I paused for effect. Some of the senators seemed to accept my statement. My gaze passed over to my companions. Asher was tugging at his toga, Angel looked to be daydreaming, Harmony tapped beats on her thighs, Hadley had a new contraption, and Kailani was silently watching him. I didn't miss how Willa slowly made her way to the seat beside Asher. "Let's vote on it. Senators, the motion is as follows: Senator Asher, Angel, Harmony, Hadley, Kailani, Willa, and I will go on a quest to investigate the attacks on our campers. Aid will be provided by the Senate if needed. All in favor?"

I went back to the principia to get ready for my date. I planned to take Osa out on a picnic date on the beach. She loved the water just as much as I did. One of the many things I loved about her. Osa was such a perfect girl for me. Her natural beauty never ceased to amaze me. Whenever we had movie nights she wore sweatshirts and sweatpants and she was still the most beautiful woman in the world. Though her looks were as superior to her intelligence. Someone with her brain deserved to go to college. I wish she could come to the one in Camp Jupiter. She'd be right at home with all the Athena kids that came to our college.
