Troy's pov

Aris and I walked out to the front to witness an argument. "I stood by you when everyone was questioning you," Kailani yelled at Willa.

"For all, I know you can't be trusted," Asher said.

Willa had her back to me while the rest were facing her. "I never meant any harm. Everything will be explained, I promise," she cried.

Asher scoffed and turned his back on her. I stepped up to place a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at me with a saddened face. "We'll leave it at that and hear her story tomorrow," I said. Willa silently walked back into the house. "Asher?"

"What?" he whispered as we went back to the car side by side.

"How much do you care about Willa?" I asked.

We hopped into the car with me as the driver. Annabeth and Percy rode in the backseat. Asher plopped down in the passenger seat. "A lot, man. That's why this is so hard for me. How are you just taking everything so calmly?"

I waited for Aris to pull off before following. The other cars formed a line behind me. "Because I haven't heard her side of the story," I said. I barely noticed Percy's scoff in the back. "Have a problem, Perc?"

"We were all there when she started talking like she knew everything already," he said. "You don't know if Osa or Willa are the good guys."

"She knew who I was," Annabeth said in disbelief. "This goes beyond us."

"You think Osa is like Jamie?" Percy asked his wife.

"Who's Jamie?" Asher and I wondered.

"He's a Yoruban demigod. It's another culture with all their own gods. I thought you guys were taught to just assume that all culture's beings exist," Annabeth said.

We shrugged. "Anyway, Osa could be a demigod," Percy suggested.

"No way. The only thing she had ever lied to me about was that I looked good in stripes," I defended. The people in this car and ahead of us knew of my ability to sense the blood in a person's body. It took too much energy to try to control blood itself due to the fact it isn't pure water. However, I know how to use blood pressure and the pulse to tell whether or not a person's lying. After being around Osa for so long I knew her normal pressure. Sure there are other signs, but Osa gained my trust a long time ago.

"Stripes just aren't your look, T," Asher agreed.

"I'm just saying that I'm the liar of our relationship."

"Maybe she never felt she had to tell you anything if you never asked," Annabeth stated.

Our conversation ceased for the rest of the ride. When my head finally met my bed I didn't get to sleep peacefully. My dream was a childhood memory that I tried to forget.

The family I came from wasn't the most loving. There was my twin sister beside me while we watched our lawyer mom busy herself with work. It was a typical scene for us.

"I don't care what he thinks is best, my client will not accept their plea," our mom yelled over the phone before hanging up. She had sighed as she sat down on the couch.

"Are you okay?" I asked her.

"I'm fine, sweetie. It's just problems at work." She moved to the dining table where Bella and I were doing homework. "How was your day?"

"Why do you care?" Bella curtly asked. I always wished that I had stopped Bella at that moment. Our family was never the same after this night. Their fights were common so I thought nothing of it at time. The two of them could never seem to get along.
