Livy's POV:
I sat up in my bed and looked at the digital clock. It read 8:36. Everyone will be here at nine, I thought, getting dressed. We were all going to meet up at my house so we can carpool to the Asylum. By the time I finished breakfast, they had arrived."Is that them?" My mom asked, setting down her mug of coffee.
"I think so." I had already told her that they were going to keep their cars here. She didn't like that, but agreed to it anyway. I grabbed my bag and went outside. They already gathered at the front porch. Everyone seemed annoyed except Leo, who was absolutely terrified.
"Why won't you guys listen to me? I'm telling you the truth," he said holding up some papers. Layla walked towards me.
"Leo did some research on the Asylum," Layla whispered.
"Surprising." I rolled my eyes.
"Apparently the Asylum is haunted because everyone that went in..." she trailed off.
"Died," I finished. She nodded.
"Most were suicides, others died mysteriously." She looked me with her hazel eyes. "Why are we even doing this?"
Jess came over before I could answer, thankfully.
"Are you two ready to go?" He asked, shoving his hands in the pockets of his hoodie. I nodded. Leo was still ranting about the Asylum while we were driving.
"What if the Asylum is actually haunted?" Leo asked. I looked back at him in the rear view mirror as I drove, wishing he would just be quiet.
"Would you just shut up?" Matt asked, reading my thoughts. Leo closed his mouth and looked out the window angrily, all fear gone. The rest of the car ride was silent.

There was a crowd of people at the Scarlet Lake Asylum, including Case and Kay. Case and his friend smirked when he saw us while Kay ran to greet us.
"I didn't think they would have the guts to do it," I heard Case say to his friends as we got out of the car. They laughed.
"Do you guys need any help?" Kay asked, holding out her hand for something to carry. I handed her one of my two bags.
"Thanks," I said.
"It's the least I could do." She smiled sadly.
Once everyone grabbed their bags, we walked down to the Asylum entrance. The Asylum was relatively small and very old. Tall grass surrounded it, meaning it hasn't been touched in years.
Case walked up to us.
"How did you know we would be here today," Jess asked.
"We didn't. My buddies and I came out here every morning to see if you actually came." He shrugged. "We were honestly about to give up on you guys."
"Shut up, Case," said Kay, narrowing her eyes at him. He raised his eyebrows.
"Did you want to go in there with them?" He asked, trying to hide a smirk. Kay adverted her eyes and didn't answer.
"Leave her alone," Layla said. "Let's just get this over with." She grabbed my hand and stormed up to the entrance of the Asylum, Kay on our heels. I heard more tall grass rustle, and I didn't have to turn around to know it was the boys. Layla pulled the metal beam away that locked the door and tried opening the door by herself, but couldn't get it to budge. Kay and I put down the bags and tried to help her. No success.
"Let us try," Jess offered. We nodded and got out of the way with our bags. With the strength of Jess, Matt, Mike, and Case, they were able to push the door open. It had to be a foot thick and all metal.
"It was rusted together," said Mike. I took my first look into the Asylum aside from the rusty door.
One word to describe the Asylum: Darkness. On the outside, I could see small windows, but I doubted any of us could open them and they were way to high and didn't seem to be a good light source for the Asylum.
"Well? What are you waiting for?" Case asked, crossing his arms. We grabbed our bags and walked inside. I gave Kay a hug before walking inside. Leo had been surprisingly quiet during this whole thing. I assume he still angry at us for not believing him.
"We will come back in six days to see if you guys actually did it," Case said before shutting the door. I didn't realize how dark it was until the door was shut. The windows offered some light, but I could tell the people in the past really relied on electricity, no matter how old it was. I looked at the old fashioned lights. There was a light switch by the door, but I doubted it worked. I decided to try it anyway, but nothing happened.
"It doesn't work," Mike stated.
"Yeah, Sherlock," said Layla, rolling her eyes.
"Should we find a place to stay?" Matt asked.
"That's a good idea," I said. Since the Asylum was small, it was easier to find a decent place to set up camp. We decided to stay in an office looking room. When we set up our stuff, Layla offered to play Truth or Dare. We agreed since we had nothing better to do.
"Livy, truth or dare?"
* * *
"Let's see... I dare you to act like a chicken," Matt told Jess.
"That's the best you could come up with?" Jess asked, but he did it anyway. We all laughed when Jess did the dare. Everyone except for Leo.
By now it was a little past nine o'clock in the evening. We had already ate some sandwiches for lunch and supper.
"I still think we should leave," said Leo. He repeated this about every ten to twenty minutes, it was very aggravating. Matt stood up, and by the expression on his face, I knew he couldn't take it anymore.
"Then why don't you just leave?" Matt clenched his fists. Leo stood up as well.
"Fine, I will! You guys won't listen to me, this place is dangerous! I guess I will be the only one to survive!" I had never seen Leo this mad, it surprised me. I was still in shock when he grabbed his flashlight and walked out of the room. I got up as Matt sat back down.
"I'm going after him," I said.
"Me too," Layla said, standing up.
"Just stay here," Jess said. "Leo will be back, he forgot his bag." He gestured to Leo's things. Layla and I didn't like it, but we stayed.
Leo's POV:
"Fine, I will! You guys won't listen to me, this place is dangerous! I guess I will be the only one to survive!" I stormed out. They made me so mad, and they never listen to me. This time it could take their life, and they thought I was joking.I looked at the entrance and shoved as hard as I could. It didn't move. They must have put the bar back on, I thought. I will just go back. As much as I didn't want to face my friends, I had left all my things there. I sighed and turned around. A dark figure blocked the doorway. I shined my flashlight at it and something glinted back at me.
It was holding a knife.
