"Layla!" I called. No answer. I looked around frantically when I heard a scream. We took off running in that direction. The screaming quickly turned into crying. It was coming from the room on the corner. I shoved the door open to reveal Layla, sitting in the corner, crying.

"Layla!" I ran and gave her a hug. She sniffed and held out her arm. There was a long, jagged cut along her arm.

"Let's go back. Leo probably brought a First Aid Kit," said Mike. He had a guilty look in his eyes. Jess and I helped her up and helped her walk back to the office. Mike and Matt followed us and kept looking back to see if the figure was following us.

When we reached the room we were staying in, I quickly dug through Leo's bag to find the First Aid Kit. A pang of guilt hit me as I pulled it out. None of this would have happened if I listened to him, I thought, carrying the bag over to Jess and Layla. Jess noticed my expression.

"Don't blame yourself, Livy," he said, taking the kit and tending to Layla's wound. "There was nothing we could have done."

"We could have listened to him," I hissed. Jess flinched, taken aback from my behavior. Everyone was quiet and diverted their eyes.

We spent the rest of the day in the room. No one wanted to leave it, yet we longed for our own homes.

"Is this a prank?" Asked Mike. Everyone looked at him.

"What makes you say that?" Jess asked, his tone dangerously calm. Mike shrugged.

"I mean, this could be set up by Case and his friends. Leo's 'body' is missing-" Mike was cut off.

"Livy and Jess saw his body, Mike. That was not a joke," Matt said, his voice rising. He gestured to the cut on Layla's arm. "You think this is a joke?"

"You are my little brother, Matt. The least you could do is listen to me!" Mike turned to Matt. Matt's face turned red and he opened his mouth to speak.

"Shut it, all of you. We can't have any more deaths on our hands," said Layla. "If all you are going to fight, then don't talk at all." Matt listened to Layla and shut his mouth, but Mike seemed to be even more angry.

"I'm leaving." He got up and started walking to the door.

"Don't, we went over this. It's not safe to be alone and we tried to get out earlier. We have to wait until the sixth day and hope Case will bring the police," Jess said, trying to get him to stay.

"Case is the one who brought us here in the first place!" Mike stormed out of the room. Jess muttered something unintelligible.

"Someone has to go with him," said Matt. "Otherwise, he will die."

"I know, but we shouldn't-" Jess was interrupted by a scream. Mike, I thought as we got up and ran. He was in the hall, sitting against the wall.

"Mike! What happened?" Matt asked, kneeling in front of him.

"I-I saw..." He trailed off.

"What? What did you see?" Matt grabbed him by the shoulders.

"A rat." Mike looked at him with wide eyes. Matt let go of his shoulders and gave him a disgusted look.

"Are you kidding me? We thought the murderer got you and it was a rat?" Jess asked, narrowing his eyes. He was trying to keep his voice down, but wasn't succeeding. He finally sighed. "Let's just go back." Mike followed us back to the room.

"Who will keep watch first?" Matt asked when we reached the room. It was a good idea, we all were tired from earlier.

"I can," offered Mike. "I will wake one of you up if I want to go to sleep."

Everyone else went to bed.
