chapter 4

After my little ... conflict with red-head I had to sit out for the rest of the period and also got a warning from the teacher that next time something like this happens I will end up in detention. Too say I was shocked is an understatement, surely I should have been suspended? I broke her damn wrist! I mean, hey.. I'm not complaining, just a little surprised is all. Now im walking down the hall to my next class, French. Im not too worried since my sister and I are both fluent.. well almost fluent at least. Our parents had both lived in france for about 12 years and had taught us all about the culture and the language. I walked in not surprised that I was the late as I was still struggling to find my way around this place. I ignore the class who's gazing are burning my body, and introduce myself to the teacher. "Bonjour madame! Je máppelle Izzy. Désolé en retard, Je suis nouveau ici"

( hello miss, my name is Izzy. Sorry im late, im new here)

She raises her eyebrows in surprise, and a small smile tugs at the corner of her lips. "Bonjour Izzy. Je máppelle Madame Glaiser. Prendre un seige síl vous plait, voice vous papiers"

(Bonjour Izzy, je máppelle Miss Glaiser. Take a seat please, here are your papers"

I take the papers from her hands and thank her. "Merci"

I turn to face the class to see them all staring, my eyes scan for a seat and come across one in the back, next to a girl with long blonde hair. A friendly smile graces her face as we make eye contact. I smile back and make my way over to her. I sit myself down and the girl next to me leans in and whispers "Hi my name is Charlotte! but you can call me Char (Sh-ar) you speak French so well! wow!" She giggles excitedly. I smile at her perkiness.

"ühh hi my name is Izzy, and thank you .. im fluent.. well mostly fluent anyway.. " I trail of. Char is staring at me in awe. I don't know what to do, so I just cough awkwardly and focus on the teacher. Shes talking about how to pronounce food names and beverages. Just the simple stuff. So I slide further down into my chair and zone out.

The bell rings snapping me out of my daydreaming, and the teacher dismisses the class. I pack up my stuff and head for the door, where I see Char waiting with a grin on her face.

"You should come eat with me!" She says practically jumping up and down. I have no time to reply as shes already got hold of my wrist and drags me down the hallway. Man shes got a strong grip, my wrist starts feeling uncomfortable. She makes a couple left turns and finally we reach the double doors of the cafeteria. I can here lots of chatter beyond the doors as finally I resist against her pulling just before she pushes the door open. "Wait!" I say. But she just ignores me as she pushes the doors and pulls me through. Each door slams on the wall and everyone goes quiet once more, and stares. I feel like shrinking into my clothes, this has happened to me too many times today and its starting to really make me uncomfortable. Char stops in her tracks, wide smile replaced with shock. I guess shes not really liking the eyes on her either. So we both just awkwardly stand there. Chars hand drops from my wrist giving me the perfect opportunity to start fidgeting with my skirt. A loud scrapping noise is heard, and I see pete stand up. Everyone snaps their eyes towards him and Peter stares back at them. Then all of a sudden everyone starts talking normally again and resumes what they were doing. I look around confused, but am happy that no one is paying attention to me anymore. Char seems to have also snapped out of her shock as she blinks a few times then turns towards me. I hear foot steps coming our way and see pete walking towards us.

"hey Izzy" He says.

"Hï" I say back, not really sure of what to say or do. He rakes his eyes down my body and smirks when he catches me watching him. I roll my eyes and walk away from him.

"Ïzzy" a soft and familiar voice says from behind me. I smile and turn around so quick I could have broke my back.

"baby!" I run to her and cup her face in my hands as I inspect her to see if she is fine. Her eyes flutter shut as she whispers "I missed you"

Her words pull on my heart strings as I missed her also. Ever since our mums death we have been inseparable, I never left her longer than an hour. We were the only family we had left, so it was hard to be away from her for long.

"I missed you too baby" I said back as I pulled her in for a hug.

Ahem. Someone cleared their throat from behind me. I turned to see Pete standing there watching me and Anna embrace.

I straighten my posture and raise an eyebrow at him.

"yes?" I say.

""whos that?" he says back. I look down at my sister who is staring back at me with a unreadable face. I step back but stay close to Annie. Her eyes widen slightly as she takes in Petes appearance.

"Anna, this is pete. Pete this is Annie, my little sister."

His eyes soften, as he stares down at her. Anna blushes.

Whaaaaa- ? what was that? .. Pete steps closer and extends his hand out to her. "Its nice to meet you little Anna" She trembles slightly as she reaches her hand out too meet his. when there hands meet, Pete stiffins for a second before bringing her hand to his lips, Anna gasps so quietly I could have missed it. I watch the interaction and am confused as too whats going on.

"Okaaaayyy... well me and Anna better go eat lunch now.. soo yeah.. " I say as I gently pull Anna away from Pete. Petes brow creases but then his expression turns hard. He gives a curt nod, before walking back to his table. Me and Anna walk to a table at the back next to a large window where you can see the school field and track perfectly. We sit and eat our packed lunch in silence as I think about what just happened. Gosh it was weird, and made me slightly uncomfortable.

"I'm not allowed to be here" Anna says gently. I look at her confused as she carries on. " There is a separate cafeteria for the younger half of the school, Im meant to be there... but I wanted to see you.. this will probably be the last time I eat here.." she said trailing of with a slightly sad tone. I didn't know how to feel about what she had said.. I don't know if I could go full days without seeing her.. it hit me harder than it should have, as I felt my throat constrict a little. I know im probably over reacting but me and Anna have never in our whole lives been away from each other longer than 3 hours. Even more so now we could hardly be away from each other longer than an hour. We were home schooled together our whole lives.. and with all the big changes going on right now.. the last thing I wanted to be was separated from my sister 6 hours a day 5 days a week. I had no words to say back to her. So we just sat in silence once more until the bell rung.

When it did finally ring, I gave Anna a long and much needed hug, a few sweet words and promises were shared before we separated once more.

The rest of the day dragged on as I did the same things in each class, Introduce myself then sit at the back and daydream. Most of the things we were learning were things I already knew/ learnt from my parents, so I did really need to listen.

Finally school ended, I had no more encounters with Pete and his friends or red-head and her followers. So I'd say it went mildly alright.

Anna and I were picked up, and taken home. Anna went to the kitchen with Maria and I went to my room for a long hot shower. I lathered my body in my vanilla body wash and cleansed the day of my body. I got out feeling fresh and clean. I changed quickly into clean clothes, a pair of coral coloured cotton shorts and a snug long sleeved white top, however when I tried to push my arm through the hole, the fabric caught onto something on my wrist. When I finally got my arm through, I realised it was the bracelet Maria gave me. Which reminds me... I need to find out why she gave it to us.. Which is what i'll do right now.

Hey guys! I know its been a while! ive been so so so sick lately that ive had no time to write this, also ive had writers block! But this book will be updated more regularly now as ive got heaps planned and in store for you all! >:) what do you guys think happened with annie and pete?

haha also the next Chapter should be more interesting as there will be another new character introduced so stay tuned!
