chapter 10

beep .. beep ... beep .. beep

My ears perked up at the sound of beeping coming from the right side of my body.
I don't know how long i've been like this for, trapped in a never ending darkness. The only thing keeping me sane was the sound of voices and the never ending beeping sound that came and went as i slipped in and out of consciousness.

Its a strange feeling, being able to hear but not touch or feel. I felt like i was disconnected from my body.. so close yet so far. Even though I knew i was getting better, stronger with every passing minute.

I waited for who knows how long until the voices came back. It was soothing too know i wasnt completely alone.

"Izzy.. its me again."

A calm yet genderless voice spoke to me, it was muffled like they were speaking to me through glass, but i strained my hearing.. and awaited to what they had to talk to me about this time.

Jakes POV

I sat in the chair next to her bed and covered my hand over hers. Icy cold as usual.

" Izzy .. its me again."

I watched her carefully, too see if she had any reaction to my words. Any indication that she may be able to hear me. But there was nothing.
I sighed and carried on.

"I know I've apologized countless times, you have no idea how sorry i am that you ended up like this."

My eyes traveled down the length of her body, where she was connected to many wires and machines. Tubes coming out of her nose, a clear mask on her mouth which provided her with oxygen.
Needles and injections in her arms, hands and wrists. She looked like she'd just survived the brink of death.

I guess technically she did.

"'when you wake up, i will make it up to you.. some how.. i promise."

I was met with silence from her, and the steady beeps of her heart monitor.

"Hah, That Maria lady isn't as weary of me anymore, she even bought me lunch this afternoon! I remember the first time I met her.. do you remember Izzy?... The first time i showed up here, she shooed me out of the room before i even had time to get a glimpse at you. Took 2 whole hours of my begging and pleading before she let me any where near you. Even then she wouldn't let me in without me emptying out all me pockets. thank goodness I wasn't carrying my Swiss blade on me at the time haha"

I laughed a little at the silly memory. Maria is a sweet woman, she'd make a great pack mother.. if she were a werewolf that is. We are on good terms now, she knows that i visit Izzy often and doesnt mind that i stay round.

"Everything has been so hectic lately Izzy.. please wake up soon."

Its true. Everything from school, too the rouge, Izzys comatose state. I know for a fact that this has affected a lot of people.
When Charlotte found out what had happened, she cried and cried and cried. I've never seen so much tears in my life. She kept rambling on about how it was all her fault, and that Izzy never wanted to go to the party in the first place. Even though she felt this way, she hadn't set foot in the hospital once. don't know why.. but I'm sure there is a good reason. Then there's Alpha Cole. When i told him that we had found her, he was visibly relieved. I asked why he cared so much about the human, and he fired back the exact same question to me.. except, his version seemed abit more enraged. I told him how i felt about the situation, and he continued to tell me he didn't know why he felt connected to her.
I offered up the suggestion of them being mates, he said he'd already considered that and that it would be impossible for him to be mated to someone who is not pureblood.. and he was right.
