"Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, how are you?! It's okay, Peter, we know. No need to rush but there's something you two should know. It's about your missing son, Jim. We found him and he is alive!".
Sarah' head fell onto Peter' shoulder. Her eyes become wet and wetter. She couldn't control it. All she felt was a big shock and relief at the same time.
"Our son? Jim? Found and he's alive? We want to see him. Now," Peter said. His voice was shaking. "Where is he? We want to see him,".
"Calm down, Peter. He's safe now. Come with us," Mac smiled. "You shift still starts at 12 am,".
"Bullshit, Mac. I just can't calm down. It's our son. And fuck that manager, I'm not coming to work today,". "I just want to be with our little Jimmy today,". Peter laughed because what Mac told him about his shift - his talk was nonsense. Their little boy was alive and he couldn't think more about than that.
The family left their door open and started running around the house. Fortunately, Leslie had eaten most of the cream when Sarah took him out of the chair. All the mess, Leslie left behind him, had to be left there. Now, there was no time to clean up or do anything less important. It was Jim - he was the most important think of this day now. Nothing else mattered.
Peter put his police officer uniform on, even though he hadn't planned to go to work on that day.
"We are ready, babe. What about you?" Sarah said, putting on his light pink sneakers. She wore short white dress, dark blue flowers on it. The braid, she had, was already put up in the morning. All this rush ruined it slowly but she didn't care. Peter nodded at her wife. Sarah locked the door and they all walked out the big brown house.
Sarah and Peter met in 2000 at the music festival. It was a rock concert on a hot summer day. They both had come to watch their favorite bands.
Suddenly, Sarah accidentally spilled her apple cider on Peter and that's how they found themselves talking. His shirt was ruined for the rest of the night but it was practically a love at first sight. Few months after, Peter and Sarah decided to be together. As a couple. They daydreamed about their own house in the suburb of Chicago. While building it, they lived at the apartment near their dream house. In 2005, the couple got married.
Their first son Jim Taylor was born in 2010 of January in Chicago. Sarah worked in local kindergarten until Jim was born. Peter was a journalist.
The Same year in March, the Taylor family celebrated Jim's monthly second birthday. The celebration spot was one of the most beautiful parks in Chicago. The perfect place to have a birthday party with friends and family. 14th of March was the day that changed the life of these two.
At first, it was a stunning morning. Picnic, first warm spring days, the whole family was together with their own kids.
Peter's nieces Donna and Calvin were the ones that organized all the games they played. They were the oldest children in that crowd. Jim was laying in his safety seat on the grass. Some minutes passed, a ball, kids were playing with, rolled away from them. Children followed and when they came back, Jim was gone. No one knew where he was, not even Peter and Sarah.
It was 12:35 PM already when Peter's co-workers drove them near the house Jim was found in. The house looked nice itself. In good shape. There were no clues that Jim had been staying there for years. Large windows. Big beige porch. All the officers and criminalists were walking and running around the house and garden. Lots of police cars were parked in front of the house.
Sarah, Peter and little Leslie walked out the car and ran towards the house. "Crime scene do not cross" sign was the one that stopped them. A muscled police officer with dark sunglasses, gun hanging on his belt, clearly stared at them. "You have to let us through," Sarah yelled. "It's our son, shit," Peter added.
"Are you going to tell them, Mac?" Joe, the another officer whispered. Unfortunately, Peter heard them.
"Tell us what, Mac?" Peter walked back to Joe and Mac. Mac was gently biting his lower lip nervously. "Tell me, you son a bitch. I'm going to punch you in the face if you don't" he repeated.
"Hm, Peter," Mac coughed. "It's about your son. He's alive but there's more you two should know. The little guy was found behind the locked door. Officers didn't find anyone else but criminalize did something. They found violence marks on your son' skin. Lots of them. It looked really bad. We can't confirm but... It's possible that your son has been sexually abused. Raped.."
