Peter sighed and started to think it, maybe, was the best choice for all of them. Jim needed a rest, so did Peter.
He walked out of the hospital with the thought of going home. Peter was so tired he almost fell asleep while standing up. He stopped by the edge of the road, took his phone out of the pocket and called his wife.
"Sarah, baby. How are you? I just visited him, yeah. He has been suffering a lot. Well... There are bruises everywhere on his body, I'm so worried about him. Anyways, I'm coming home. I need a cold shower and long nap... Yeah," Peter was talking to her.
"Hey! Peter!" Someone yelled behind Peter. It was Mac, Peter's co-worker.
"I gotta go. See you later. I love you," Peter declined the call.
Mac.. Mac Gibbons. 5'3''. 189 pounds. The more he was running, the more tired he got. It wasn't a wonder he started wheezing.
"Mac. It's good to see you, man, how are you?" Peter smirked at him.
"Hey, bud. I just came from the police station. I've got some news for you. New information about Jim's situation," Mac told Peter.
"How did you find me anyway?" Peter asked.
"I went to the hospital to see you but the doctor told me you just ran out," Mac answered.
"What's the news?" Peter looked deeply into Mac's eyes.
"First of all, we found some fingerprints on Jim's body..." Mac started explaining.
"Whose?" Peter asked wide-eyed.
"Listen. No one knows yet whose. Fingerprints are under the investigation. Secondly, Jim wasn't sexually abused," Mac finished his sentences, smirk on his face.
"Thanks, man. That's some good news. I don't know how to thank you. Give me a call if you find whose fingerprints or something else gets discovered," Peter patted Mac's shoulder and gave a wink.
Peter walked to the bus station and took a bus to the way home. As soon as he opened the door, Sarah greeted him.
"Sweetie," Sarah smiled at him widely and hugged.
"Sarah. Listen," Peter nodded. "I've got some news. They found fingerprints from Jim's body,".
Sarah was so happy, she covered her face with hands. You could see the tears in her eyes, hoping the officers already knew whose.
"But they don't know whose yet," Peter nodded."The second news is Jim wasn't sexually abused," he added.
"That's good," Sarah smirked at him. "How is he?".
Peter asked Sarah to sit on the couch. Peter placed his wife's hands on his knees and sighed.
"I visited him. Baby... He's hurt. Bruises everywhere. When he saw me, he jumped out of the bed and fell down on the floor. It was so hard to see this, honey. Who ever did this to him, I'm gonna kill him with my bare hands," Peter sighed once more. Sarah tried to comfort him.
"Look at me, baby. The criminal is going to get what he deserves," Sarah held her husband's face between her hands. She gave him a soft kiss that turned into passionate one. Peter got so intimated he kissed Sarah' neck and caressed her hips.
"Fuck, after 16 years, I'm still into you," Peter whispered, biting gently her earlobes. A phone call interrupted them.
Peter gave one last passionate kiss on Sarah' cheek and stood up. Unknown number.
"Peter Taylor. Who's calling? What?!! I'll be there soon!"
"What happened? Who was it?" Sarah asked.
"Hospital. They said Jim couldn't feel his legs anymore..."
