"Hospital. They said Jim can't feel his legs anymore..."
"Oh my God. Um... You should go. As soon as Leslie is awake, we'll come as well," Sarah said. "There is no time to go together right now. Hurry up,".
Peter nodded and left again. Thoughts of eating, cold shower and having a nap turned to be a failure. This time, he took his own car, started the engine and drove to the hospital. 25- minutes and he already parked the car in the parking lot.
"Doctor Hernandez!" Peter yelled as soon as he stepped into the hospital.
"Shh! Peter Taylor! There are other patients as well, please, be quiet," Doctor said when he saw Peter.
"I'm here. What happened?" Peter asked. He couldn't apologize for his behavior.
"Anyway," Doctor coughed. "The nurse called me cause of Jim had fallen out of the bed. He denied to stand up. It was like, the floor wasn't there. He had lost his ability to walk. Fell again and again. He couldn't stand up. I'm so sorry to tell you this but - if Jim feels better, we have to get him the wheelchair".
"Where is he? I wanna see him," Peter said. Doctor guided Peter into Jim's patient room and opened the door. Little Jim was awake.
"Jim. Jim. Look who came to see you. Your daddy," Doctor smiled softly at Jim.
"Daddy? He is going to hurt me," Jim was confused.
"No, no. He is a nice person. His name is Peter Taylor and he is your daddy," Doctor repeated, trying to comfort Jim.
"Naaah... He is going to hurt me. Go away," Jim held his face between his hands. The doctor sat on the edge of the bed and took Jim's hands away.
"No, look. He is not going to hurt you. Trust me. You trust me, don't you?" Doctor smirked at the boy. Jim nodded slowly.
"Hey, baby. I love you, child," Peter got closer the bed where Jim was laying. "I'm not going to hurt you, Jim. We are trying to help you,".
Jim was confused and looked Peter with frowning face.
"But daddy said he wanted to hurt me badly," Jim repeated himself. Peter sighed.
"Jim. Do you remember what your "daddy" did to you?" Doctor asked Jim with lowering voice.
Peter saw how relaxed Jim looked like when the doctor was talking to the boy. Nurses had brought lots of toys to the boy so he could be more satisfied and not be scared anymore. Big toys and little ones. Different sizes. They were all over on Jim's bed. It was all just have Jim's trust. It made the treatment easier.
"Daddy said he wanted to hurt me. He took away all of my toys and broke them," Jim was sad.
Peter stared at the doctor. They had no idea who Jim called his dad.
"Do you remember how he looked like?" Doctor said.
"This...," Jim widened his arms. "Big,"."Peter, do you know someone like that?" Doctor asked. Peter scratched his head but answered as no.
"Good, Jim. You are doing good. We are taking a break. Stay still. I'll be right back," Doctor left the edge of the bed and guided Peter out of the room.
"What was that?" Peter asked.
"What?"
"Six years. He has been with some creature for six years and he knew all the words? Who taught him that..." Peter said.
"As you said - six years. Don't you think Jim didn't learn these years by that time? We are sure there were at least two persons behind this. You could hear all kinds of words from them," Doctor was sure. He was confident what he was saying.
"And fat? FAT, doctor? That's one good describing detail, don't you think?" Peter stared deeply Jim's doctor.
"Sure it is," Doctor nodded.
"What else he told you," Peter was confused.
"Well... We can't be sure what he said or what he saw," Doctor answered.
"Can't be sure? What the hell..."
"Have you talked to the police? What they said?" Doctor Hernandez asked.
Police, of course. Crime scene. Finger prints. Mac and Joe haven't told anything about the crime scene, yet. Have they looked for more evidence, anyway?!
"Um... Yeah. They said, Jim wasn't sexually abused and they found finger prints," Peter answered. He had to tell the doctor something.
"That's good, Peter," Doctor saw someone else walking through the corridor. It was Sarah.
Before Sarah said anything, Peter pretended someone called him. Sarah only had a chance to greet the doctor with a nod.
"Come with me," Peter pulled Sarah away from the doctor. They walked back towards the hall.
"What now? What was that?" Sarah asked."Mac and Joe have said no words about the crime scene, yeah? What if there are more clues. I can't just sit back here and see how Jim is so relaxed about the pills. They are bringing toys to Jim's room, what the hell..." Peter whispered.
"Peter, where is this coming from? What they are supposed to do, then?" Sarah asked.
"Bringing toys? Pills? We are looking for the criminal. He said the bad guy was fat. FAT. Who could that be? They don't believe every word Jim says," Peter was saying. "Doctor Hernandez said they will need a wheelchair for Jim. I can't let that thing be still like this. We have to do something,".
"Peter, baby. You can't go the crime scene alone. Not without the permission,".
"Do you think I care about the permission. Fuck that! Sarah, we need to go the Morton Grove, the crime scene...".
