I arrived in Paris earlier this morning. The Eiffel Tower was definitely one of the worlds biggest tourists attractions. Tourist attractions were never really my thing but the Eiffel Tower is an exception. Being up close to it makes me wonder who had the grand idea to build it. It was weird seeing it alone since I had planned to go here with so many of my friends. I should've guessed that promises you make when you were 11 don't always last.

It was partly cloudy with a little bit of wind. Perfect weather for my pink tank top with a leather jacket and leggings. I walked by the green benches that bordered the side walk. Each were filled with people on their phones and tourists taking pictures. On the second to last bench was a brunette girl focused on some book in her lap. There was an empty spot next to her.

I sat down next to her and pulled out the yellow notepad I had used to make my bucket list. The girl was still face down in her book. I put a checkmark next to 'paris.'

"Isn't it a little cliche to have 'go to paris' on your bucket list?" The mysterious brunette girl had said with a slight French accent, looking away from her book.

"I don't know. I just always wanted to go."

"You and many others,"She smiled. "where are you from?" She closed her book. The cover had said Waiting in the Wings. Funny, I've read that book before.

"I'm from northern California. And I'm guessing you're from here?"

"Close. I moved here when I was 4."

"Do you mind me asking why?"

"I was adopted by a couple, aka my parents, who decided to move here shortly after they got me."

"Aw that's cute."

"Mind me asking why you are crossing things off a bucket list?" I could see the curiosity reflected in her beautiful brown eyes.

"Um I just wanted to. What if you unexpectedly got sick or something and your last thought was you never got to do what you wanted?" I had said, avoiding that part about having a year to live.

"That's a good point. I like the way you think." A reminder popped up on her phone. "Well I have to go but, if you ever want company doing some of the things on your corny bucket list, I'd be glad to help." She said as she got up.

"That'd be fun." I smiled as she started walking away. "Wait!" She turned around. "What's your name?" I asked.

"Bailey."
