'Phil'ing Myself

I walk into mooshish, a small café down the street owned by the most beautiful Indian couple, to grab a coffee Lily demanded I get for her while she works on something big. And when Lily brainstorms you do whatever she tell you to.

Giving a quick wave to Neena, one of the owners I walk to the back of the que fetching my phone out my pocket to distract myself from the amount of time I have to wait. Although in my attempt to distract myself I didn't notice the man at the front stumbling backwards.

Falling with his weight we both end on the floor, my elbows scraping the tiles and my head inches away from a concussion. As I try to wrap my head around what happened a familiar smell of minty musk overwhelms my senses.

I take a sharp breath in as I notice the lean pale arm. I would know that arm any...Phillip. I cruise my eyes up his shoulder until they reach his, which are staring at me apologetic.

"Oh Phillip! Hey." I say causally, as if my butt isn't bruised and my forever crush isn't laying on top of me.

He gives me a dazzling smile. "Hey Anna, how's it going?" He says, equally casually, securing his arms either side of my head.

"Yeah yeah, just laying around." He lets out a laugh and decides to scramble his way off me, reaching out for my hands to help pull me up.

"So...How's it going?" I ash once we are both stable. I swipe the front of my shirt down and rearrange my jeans, making sure I'm presentable with one of the only close encounters I have ever had with Phillip. And surprisingly, I'm not that nervous...maybe Taylor's lessons have been paying off.

He mimics what I do, brushing invisible wrinkles off of his shirt. "Yeah pretty good myself, bout to finish my bachelor degree." He proudly states.

Unable to help myself. "You are quite the bachelor" I immediately go red and my brain kicks itself multiple times. But Phillip makes me feel better when he laughs and gives a sarcastically cocky shoulder shrug.

"Hahaha yeah I just get all the women, it's getting ridiculous." He jokes, pretending like he actually does.

I nod my head making a 'don't I know it gurl' face. "So many people come up to me asking if I can get them with you!" I stress sarcastically. Phil lets out a little 'I know' before continuing.

"I had to get more gigabytes just to fit everybody's contact on my phone."

Lifting my hands up in an 'I don't know what you could do' sort of gesture I banter back.

"Such a pain honestly, you need to start wearing a disguise with the way this is going."

We both laugh while moving down in the line, Phillip turns to order as our teasing ends. I wish I could let out a squeal at how well this is going. At how well I was going. Could I be pass my nervousness with Phil? Could this actually turn into something?

After ordering he moves off to the side allowing me to order. Saying whatever Lily told me to say to the server I quickly dart right back to Phil's side to keep the conversation going. Before I back out of it.

"What about you...do you have a boyfriend? I do see you and that guy around heaps." He continues our conversation from him being a bachelor. Me and that guy?

He laughs at my confusion and tries to help me onto the same page he was on.

"You know... you and Taylor." Oh.

Letting out an awkward laugh I'm quick to deny. "Oh no no, we are nothing but friends...buddies, pals, all of that. I'm still very much single." Desperate for him to no you're single much? Geez.
