Eventually, I find an abandoned restaurant.

"Find food." I hear my parents say. I walk to the building to find no one. The crumbling, peeling, and faded yellow wallpaper is falling off the walls. It smells like old grease and mold. I fell into a pile of cardboard, exhausted. As I close my eyes, I become painfully aware of my situation. I see a refrigerator and pick myself off the floor. I open the rusted handle with effort.

I jump as a mouse runs out. There are mouse droppings and bite marks but food. There was food here. I grab a loaf of bread and bite greedily. I stop mid-chew. I forgot to pray. I bow my head.

"Father. I have sinned far too much lately." Tears fall down my freckled cheek. "Please forgive me. Bless me as I go through this tough time." I stop and chuckle. "You know I need a blessing."

I eat the rest of my bread in three bites. I smile. It tasted good. But, I stopped. A flashback came into my head. I close my eyes and let the memory wash over me.

Sitting on the floor in my old house, I am watching as my parents fight. I look around for my usual hiding spot when this happens. I have no time to even blink. I hear boots. Loud, thundering steps. I run away from the door into my parents room. "Mommy! Daddy!" I cry. A group of men burst into the room and grab my parents. I hear my mother screaming and my my father cursing at the men. Men in suits. The first time I'd ever encountered them. I shrank to the wall mumbling' " Go away... Go away suit men..." They chuckled and kicked me. I fell with an OOF. My parents cursed at the men while I cried. They slit my parents throat in front of me. Then said into my ear in a devious chuckle, "I'd run if I were you."  So I did.

My eyes opened as I began gasping. Hyperventilating. Oh no... This happened a lot more now.

As I layed on my cardboard bed, I try not to think. Too bad for me, I guess. I find no sleepiness in my mind. Only restlessness.

"Please..." I whimper. And I fall asleep.
