Alina opened her eyes. The first thing she realised was that she was laying on her bed, which honestly was a relief. She reached one hand out and touched the screen of her cellphone.
-9:15 pm-
Said the voice.
Alina sighed and pressed her knuckles against her eyelids. The events from last night came flooding back to her. She could still feel the ghost of Noah's lips hovering, inches away from her own. She sighed again, shaking her head. She shouldn't be thinking about it so much. Noah was Noah. He did this sort of stuff all the time. It wasn't a big deal. It hurt to think like that, but she could not let herself be fooled. It would only hurt more.
And yet, she couldn't help but wonder. Why did he leave? He was clearly going to kiss her and she was clearly not going to stop him. So why did he back away? And why did his heart start racing when she touched him? And why did he call her name like that?
Alina groaned and stood up pulling her hair into a pony tail and getting a hold of her cane. Her mind was too distracted to focus on the steps. She left her room and made her way towards the kitchen. Noah was talking on the phone.
Alina walked pass him and took a mug out, preparing her morning tea. Then she heard him.
"Yeah, she's awake now. Wanna talk to her?"
Alina turned towards him and frowned.
"Okay, okay, just don't waste all my battery please. I need my phone and you girls tend to talk on and on and-"
He stopped talking probably because whoever was calling made him. Alina felt her stomach turn in excitement. A smile started forming on her lips.
"Okay sis. Yeah, I know. We'll see you soon. Okay, yeah. Love you. Bye." Noah said and standing up he put his phone on Alina's hand. "It's Stella."
That's all Alina needed to hear. She let out a squeal and brought the phone to her ear.
"Stella?" She asked. The wait was killing her.
"Oh my God Alina?!"
They both started screaming on the earpiece, like two teenage girls in a boy band concert.
Alina heard Noah let out a groan and after a second she heard the distant sound of a door closing. She grinned.
"Oh my God!! Stella! I've missed you so much!! Why haven't you called you stupid asshole?!"
Alina wasn't even a little bit mad.
"Lin, I've been so busy these last two months, you wouldn't believe how much work I have. And only today I managed to find some free time. So I called Noah."
She was smiling. Alina could tell.
"And I wanted to talk to you but he said you were asleep. Something about a thunderstorm. Are you okay?"
Alina smiled.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me. How have you been doing? Was it everything you thought it would be?"
"Oh God, yes! I mean work is hectic but Alina I love it! And the people are so nice. The kids let me play with them from time to time and they teach me songs, it's so beautiful here! You'd love it."
"I'm sure I would." She said taking a sit in the table. "Are there any other doctors there?"
"Oh yeah! There are lots of them. And they're all great people. I mean I've learned so much."
Her voice was so full of excitement it made Alina giggle.
"Anyone handsome?" She asked playfully.
