Chapter 42

One week later, I did Peggy/Maria's parts in the dress rehearsal. A little less than a 2 weeks later, I did Angelica's parts. From that moment on, I was ready for Broadway.

We rehearsed and rehearsed, constantly. Trying to make every little thing perfect. Then, finally, Broadway day was here. August 6th, 2015.

We had done previews for a month to get the buzz up. We did Ham4Ham shows before the previews, which were fun to be in and to watch.

The very first Ham4Ham that we did was Dad and Groff, doing a parody rap. The first one that I was in was on July 20th. Renee was going to rap Chris's rap from Right Hand man, while Pippa beat boxed but Renee couldn't so I took her place.

It was so much fun to not preform a girl part to people. I mean, I have sang the male songs in front of some of the cast but not to an actual audience.

My favorite Ham4Ham so far is the In the Heights reunion, where Karen Olivo who played Vanessa in In the Heights, came and sang 96,000, the second half. She has such a beautiful voice and I absolutely loved it.

My first show is today, August 10th, where I'm going to play Eliza. Phillipa is staying backstage to watch the show from the wings to give me a couple of tips between songs.

" Okay, officially nervous, " I say, walking into Anthony's and Daveed's dressing room. That's another thing, in the Richard Rodger's theater, most of us have our own dressing room's or at least it's less people per dressing room.

Pippa's, Renee's, Jasmine's and my dressing rooms are all in one little corner so it's like we were in college, in a dorm. Not that I would know, But that's what Pippa tells me.

" Don't be. You'll be fine, " Says Ant, as he gets miked.

" You say that now, but when I start talking crazy and in long paragraphs, you will feel bad and people are going to get pissed. Oh, what if I annoy people? Do I annoy you? I mean, You would tell me if I"

He cuts me off, " Shh!" He says, bringing his finger to his lips and I blush.

" Sorry, " I say.

" No, don't apologize. Just calm down. You'll do great, I promise!" He says, taking my hands in his and smiling at me.

" I can't believe y'all put up with me, " I grumble as Daveed comes in.

" Why are you always in our dressing room?" He says, laughing.

I laugh and say, " Hey, hush!! You come to our dressing rooms too" I defend myself, putting my hands on my hips.

" To talk, not live, '' He says.

" I don't live here, " I say, defending myself.

"Well, you are here all the time, " Anthony says, putting his hands above his head, as I glare at him.

" Shut up. I am not, " I say.

" You are welcome, ' Daveed says and I look at him confused.

" What?" I ask.

" Places, ," Calls an announcement.

" I stalled you. Now, go to your place and kick ass, " He says, smiling.

" I'm still not done with you, Mr. " I say before exiting and standing in the wings as I wait for my cue.
