Chapter 41

" Ready?" Asks Dad, after a week. Today is my first dress rehearsal as Eliza with the full cast. They had to do a dress rehearsal anyways for Broadway, and Andy told Tommy and Dad that I was ready.

I nod, nervous even though there is only a small audience of Andy, Alex, Tommy and a couple other people. Phillipa's sitting in the audience with Steven, her boyfriend! I was in my ensemble dress and ready for the show to start when they called places.

" Hey, dont be nervous. You'll be amazing, " Says Chris, coming up behind me.

I blurt, " Thanks, Chris! I'm not too nervous but only a little, I'm mostly excited but I mean I shouldn't be nervous because its just a couple people and they're like family but still imagine if it was a full audience, That would be scary, I mean maybe not for you because you are used to it but-"

I suddenly get kissed by Anthony. He pulls away and I laugh, " Oh no, your rambling again. Be honest, how nervous are you?"

"Actually not too much. It's just fun to ramble, " I say, giggling.

" Weirdo, " Whispers Leslie as the announcer says stand by.

I take a deep breath and wait in the wings and wait for my cue. A couple seconds before Anthony goes on, he kisses me on the cheek and leaves. I blush.

And suddenly, its my turn. I walk out and sing my part, " When he was 10, his father split, full of it, debt ridden. 2 years later, see Alex and his mother bed-ridden, half-dead. Sittin' in his own sick, the scent think. "

I did all my parts in Act 1. Then, the guys gave us our criticism and praise, what we could have done better and what we should keep doing. They gave e a couple tips on how to project my voice for the upcoming Act and then, we started Act 2.

I did my company and Ensemble parts for What'd I miss and then I had to wait through Cabinet Battle #1 and then it was my part in Take a Break. I did good, I assume. It was fun, singing with my boyfriend.

Then, after a couple songs, it was Burn, my solo. I took a deep breath before going to my spot and singing my song. This song was my specialty. I have had lots of pain in my life so I can relate.

When I had to sing in Stay Alive (reprise), it was real tears. So, when it was done, I had about 30 seconds before I had to go back onstage to act for its quiet uptown. I hugged him so much longer than any time before.

" You have to go on, " He says, as I pull away.

I glare and then rush to the stage for the last couple of songs. After the rehearsal, I got lots of congratulations and hugs.

" Good job!!" Phillipa says, coming up behind me. I turn and face her.

" Thanks, " I say, smiling.

" I should watch out for my job, " She jokes and I laugh.

" Good job, " Says Anthony, scooping me up in a hug.

I kiss his cheek and laugh, " Thanks, Ant"

" You were great out there. I loved it, " He says, looking into my eyes. He adds, " I had to keep reminding myself, Damn, that girl is mine! I love her"

" I love you, too, " I say, blushing and laughing at the same time as he puts me down. Dad playfully glares at us but then laughs as he walks by.
