Akatsuki Plans

I woke up in my apartment at 07:00 and pondered my progress. It's been 3 years since I became an ANBU. I have been on various missions and have earned myself the title "Black Fox" Pretty cool right? Due to my speed and strength, and the ability to slightly control the Nine-Tail's chakra state. I am feared throughout the ANBU, or I hope so at least, and have been promoted to a squad leader under a year ago. Under me are Wolf and Pup (Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru), Wasp (Shino Aburame), Phoenix (Neji Hyuuga), and Psychic (Ino Yamanaka). The five of us have earned the title "Hidden Hoshi" meaning the star, because stars have five points.

We have been working together for some time and I know each of their strengths and weaknesses. Since then I have grown closer to everyone in our age group. I no longer receive the evil stares from people on the street and it seems everyone has trusted me because Lady Tsunade has shown it almost publicly. Even if she is a crazy gambler and drunk, she is super kind hearted and asked me to join ANBU after acknowledging my skill. I love the job with all my heart. The ruthlessness, the thrill, the fear of failure, and the intense pace have helped me become very strong. Something was always missing, or rather someone.

I got up and freshened up. Put on my usual attire as I looked in the mirror. "Has it really been three years" I said to myself with sorrow lingering in my voice. I looked at my messy black hair, I wonder if my parents were alive would they have blonde hair? I look so much like Naruto, I am his twin after all. I put on my black arm sleeves and wrapped it in a red leather wrap. Just for added look I guess. Then my black pants that were probably way too tight. My black ninja sandals fit perfectly and then attached my fox ANBU mask to my hip. This mask was probably the most impressive mask in the ranks. I had it custom made to look like Kurama, the Nine-Tails inside me who wasn't all that mean. The mask was a white ANBU mask with a long nose piece to resemble a fox, along with shorter ears on top. It was extremely similar to Kakashi's mask but with every detail being sharper and every line is a fiery red. With the added effect of the black lines going from the eyes to the ears. The last part was a regulation chest protector. I never enjoyed the feel of it so I rarely wear it.

I began to head out before I saw a picture of Naruto and I as children with Team 7. I loved that picture and even our apartment still had all the same design. I never moved because I felt like I was leaving behind Naruto so all his stuff is still laying exactly where he left it last. I smirked as I got ready to leave. I entered my mindscape one last time before I had to leave.

"Kurama tell me something, is Naruto still alive? Is he alright, I'm sure you've got some information for me." I spoke to Kurama behind his gate.
"My other half is still trapped, sadly for the boy he received my lesser half. But your brother is okay. He reached the sixth tail recently. But he regained control thanks to that white haired toad..."

I left the mindscape before I began to jump from roof to roof as I made my way to the Hokages office. To be honest; Kurama is a douchebag but what can be said about a psychotic chakra monster who almost destroyed a village years ago. We have grown a small dependability and I have full control up until I grow four tails. He is just angry he can't use his full power and thrash me. We understand each other and speak occasionally. I still can't let him loose even if he is the better half.

As I saw the village wall into view I started losing speed. I didn't want to go full force and end up having to be cleaned off. I met my team there. They stood in a semi circle waiting for me to show up, those assholes were always way too early. I briefed them on the info that came up "A secret group called the Akutsuki, they were after Tailed Beasts and have set their sights on Gaara of the Sand. Their skills are extremely high, they are master ninja and will NOT stop until theey succeed. From our info the Tsuchikage used to pay them to do missions for the Earth Country." I said as my team stood emotionless under their masks, I couldn't really make out their expressions under the masks and the darkness "Some are listed in the bingo books, many of their members are unknown and in what numbers, so we are only to do recon and get back to HQ. Got it?" Hopefully that speech proved to be important enough for them not to do anything stupid. But these men who are after Tailed Beasts .... what does that mean for me and Naruto. Whatever happens, if Gaara is hurt, or even killed.... I don't know what Naruto will do.

We arrived at the Village Hidden in the Sand, it was nearly destroyed and the inhabitants in shock. Wasp was sent out to gather the landscape of the scene and eavesdrop on any conversations about it. Wolf and Pup were sent to scour the land around the village for any trails. Psychic was with me to check out the Hokages office. Phoenix got the job to check for any signs of life and gather information on what the battles were that occurred here.

I left with Psychic to go check his office when a familiar voice was found groaning. It was Kankurō with his face paint and all. The boy had some poison in him as far as I could tell. I couldn't interfere or they would realize what I was doing. I had to keep a low profile and stick to the shadows. We left the building and met up shortly after near a collapsed rock path that used to be the only way in. Blood splattered the walls, and bodies crushed under rubble. I was sick that someone could do this to Gaara, but why? We left the scene and headed home to give in our report.

As we ran home we found a trail of footprints that lead away. We followed them up until a sandstorm hit and left us to take shelter. We found an abandoned cave to hide in. We have been on this mission for almost a week at this point. Two days to travel, one day to look for clues, and half a day stuck in this cave. We haven't even started our journey home yet. Which will take another 2 days.

We packed our things from the cave in order to leave quickly and report back to the Hokage. It's been five days here, far more then needed. As we got ready to leave Wasp told as many insects as possible to give their reports. As we all gave the information to Wasp he began to formulate what happened. Our trip was to last 3 days but we took 5 and we would arrive in the Hidden Leaf soon. "Be safe Gaara, I will be back and I will get you out of that mess" I whispered softly. We moved at our top speed to reach the hidden leaf village as quickly as possible.
