Consul POV

As we search through the ashes, I start to realize what a waste of time this is. There is no evidence that Alexander was in league with Jonathon.

Next to me, the Inquisitor lets out a yell filled with anger. "There's got to be something somewhere!"

Then, I hear the door open upstairs. "Mom? Robert?" a voice calls out.

The Inquisitor shoots up. "The Lightwoods." His face is fearful. "We need to apprehend them. Let's go." And we run upstairs to capture them.

Clary POV

"Mom? Robert?" Isabelle calls. No answer.

Then, I hear footsteps in the hall, and the Inquisitor, followed by the Consul, walk into the foyer, both in Shadowhunter gear.

"Why hello, children!" the Inquisitor smiles brightly. "Maryse and Robert are waiting for you upstairs." He beckons for us to follow him.

We hesitate, then Jace moves forward, and we all follow cautiously. After walking through a series of hallways, we end up in a bedroom by the library.

Alec's. I can tell it's his, with the messy bed and glitter on the sheets, and the ratty clothes everywhere.

To my surprise, Robert and Maryse are sitting behind the bed with Binding runes binding their mouths, hands, and feet.

Before any of us can react, the Inquisitor shuts the door and pulls out two seraph blades. The Consul follows his example.

"Now listen, children. We won't hurt you as long as you do as we ask." the Inquisitor says calmly.

"Too bad I didn't bring a seraph blade myself," Jace answers just as calm. "Then I wouldn't have to get my hands dirty." Then he turns to us. "Let's bust outta here."

And we charge.

The battle lasts about five seconds. Even without seraph blades, we easily overtake the Inquisitor and Consul.

"Now, now, don't get too feisty," the Inquisitor stammers.

"And why not?" Izzy challenges.

Suddenly the Inquisitor has an evil glean in his eyes. "I can get all of you, except for the Daylighter, of course, turned into Forsaken for assaulting the Clave's two most powerful figures. I suggest you so toying and let go now." He pushes against Jace, and he backs away, his hands up.

I am done with all the mystery. "What the hell is going on? What do you want us for?"

"Oh, what's going on here is I'm going to ruin Alexander Lightwood. And what I want? Well, Clarissa, I want you. You and your paint."

(A/N: So I'm gonna leave the plot for a second and do some Malec. You're welcome.)

Alec POV

"So, what are we doing today? You know, besides cuddling," I ask, my head resting on Magnus's chest.

His hands run through my hair. "Actually, I have an idea."

"Does it involve making out?"

"Possibly," he answers coyly. "But that's not the main purpose." He stands up from the couch, where we are watching Project Runway. "Get dressed!" he calls from the other room.

"I don't have any clothes!" I call back.

I hear a loud snap, and I'm wearing black suit and blue tie. Magnus walks in wearing a pink and lime green suit, his hair a rainbow of colors.

"Faaaancy," I drawl sophisticatedly. "Where are we going?"

He holds out his hand without saying a word, and I grab it and allow myself to be pulled forward. I love surprises.

We end up at a Portal in the fireplace. (A/N: I just realized Portals are like flumes in Harry Potter lol.) "How the hell do you make these so fast?" I ask, impressed. It had only been a few minutes, whereas most warlocks take an hour.

"I created them," he winks, then steps through. I follow him, dumbfounded.

When I pass through, I am in what looks like Venice. There is a small boat with a picnic basket shutting at the docks for us, and I remember that this is what we were going to do before we were called back last time.

"Oh, Mags, this is great." Then I stop and think. "Did you steal this?"

"I glamored us and put a memory spell on the owner. We have three hours."

I smile then jump and land gracefully in the middle of the gondola. Magnus isn't so graceful, and I have to help him on. It takes about five minutes, because I'm too busy laughing.

"What?" Magnus glares at me, annoyed.

"You are absolutely adorable."

He grins and blushes. "I feel like the roles are reversed. Because I'm always saying that to you."

We sit down and start to eat. We talk about everything that has happened to us in the past few days. The setting is so romantic, the food is delicious, and I'm in the greatest company in the world. I sigh.

"What's wrong?" Magnus asks.

I smile brightly. "Nothing at all. I think this is the happiest I've been in days."

He blushes. "I'm glad you like it." Then he leans in and kisses me on the lips. I kiss back, then pull him down on top of me in the boat.

"Well, this did end in making out," Magnus says between kisses. We kiss passionately for a few more minutes until we hear a shout.

"Why the hell is my boat floating away by itself?!?"

Magnus chuckles and sits up. "Time to go, I guess." We row back into the harbor, enjoying the face of the boat owner, who looks as if he's about to faint. After finding the Portal, we step through to be greeted with the sounds of people running down the street.

"I didn't know Alicante did marathons," Magnus says amusedly.

Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. I walk over and open it to find an out-of-breath, red-faced Aline.

"Alec," she says, gaping for air. "You've got to see this."
