Strong

You are strong.

But something always seems to go wrong; mistake after mistake, a sigh after a heavy and defeated exhale, we tell ourselves that we are not strong. We tell ourselves that we are not strong when we find ourselves biting at the inside of our cheeks or sucking in the bottom of our lip. We tell ourselves that we are not strong, that we are not brave, when we find ourselves growing anxious by the second when we stand before things that other can do just fine. We tell ourselves that we are not strong when we find ourselves with clammy and moist hands from being so nervous; we tell ourselves that we are not strong when we find ourselves carrying around a heavy heart, having to take deeper breaths to allow the air to properly billow in and fill up our empty hearts.

We tell ourselves that we are not strong because we refuse to believe.

We refuse to believe that we are, in fact, strong. We are very strong; stronger and braver than we'll ever know. With each and every passing day, we embark on a new adventure; there's always something new awaiting just at the end of the path. Those bumps and holes and stumbling blocks that we all come across are obstacles merely distracting ourselves from realizing that we truly do have the capability.

We have the capability to do anything.

We call ourselves spineless because all we see is skin. We call ourselves weak because we fall and stumble easily; we call ourselves naive because we make mistakes; we call ourselves wrong because we don't know better. They all add up, all our mistakes and clumsy stumbles, they all mean something in the end.

You mean something in the end.

We are stronger than we'll ever know, because some of us have been broken far more times than our skeletons of two hundred and six bones allow us to; some of us have trekked among the highest of heights, along the rockiest of ridges, and across the cracked of surfaces. We've shattered and broken into hundreds of shards and pieces, not knowing that we have the capability to easily piece ourselves back together again.

The words we tell ourselves are not strong.

The words we tell ourselves are weak; because we are strong, stronger than the things that we tell ourselves will ever know, and stronger than the wilted and detached parts of us will ever know.

We tell ourselves that we are not strong.

Yet we are furies locked shut in iron cages behing a gorgeous smile; we are hurricanes tamed between thick clouds of stormy grey's and black's that tint our gleaming eyes; we are everlasting breaths of mystic and magic, tightly sealed within the golden walls of a costly, antique lamp; we are blazing flames of fire, tinted with red, orange and the most brilliant of gold's, and we are ripping across miles and miles of untouched land, land that we now possess and have the power to change.

Tell yourself that you are strong.

You will make yourself shudder with fear and you will tear and relentlessly gnaw at the ground that you walk upon for a change, because you are strong and you are capable. You are strong, you are brave, you are capable, and you are so, so much more than you'll ever know.

We are strong.

So keep your head held high, oh brave one, and put your best foot forward. Now show yourself; show the part of you that is weak and tells your mind that you are not strong, that you are not brave, that you are not capable; that you will, you can, and you are.

You are strong.
