The next day, Aidan wakes up with the vivid thought of Cable and Melissa together on that bed. He shakes it off by heading to the bathroom and begin taking a shower. His mind slowly drifts off to what happened in the city. The horse was with them from the beginning of making the town, and now he's gone. His hands begin to shake from his final thought of ending his life. He knows that there was no other choice, but just the act alone is very heartbreaking for himself and the group. He finishes coming out of the shower and brushes his fur to get himself ready for the day. He puts on his black pants, his combat boots, and his thin white shirt, revealing his toned body. He steps out to see the townspeople walking around with their loved ones, and everyone doing their chores. The kids running around and playing tag.
Cable steps outside with his jeans on without wearing a shirt. He takes a small packet of cigarettes, takes one out, and lights it in his mouth. As he smokes, he sees Aidan and walks over. As he gets closer, Aidan looks at him, but quickly avoids his gaze. "Hey there shrimp, what's goin' on?" Cable asks him. Aidan looks up at him with anger in his eyes. "I thought I told you I don't like being called short."
"Well excuse me, didn't know you had a short temper as well." He chuckles as he puffs another smoke from the cigarette he is already smoking. Aidan covers his nose and turns away. "What? Don't like the smell of cigarettes?"
"Of course not, we're in the middle of the apocalypse, I don't think we should kill ourselves even further by smoking those cancers in a joint." Aidan exclaims while covering his nose.
"It's not that bad Aidan, its quite relaxing for me, even in this fucked up world, I still want to smoke and drink whenever the hell I want to."
"Fine, kill yourself over those things. You can be dick to everyone else, but don't. Fuck. With. Me." He storms off to the south side of the gate. Cable looks at his cigarette, and takes one big puff before tossing it on the ground and stomps out the lit side of it. He jogs to catch up with Aidan to the gate.
As he reaches the gate, he sees Aidan carrying wood to help set up fire pit traps for the Z's and bandits. As he sets down the wood in the pits, he takes off his shirt and wipes the sweat from his face. As Cable stares at him, he feels a strange feeling overpowering him. He cannot describe it, but something, either in his head or his heart, telling him to get closer. But as he walks a little closer, Aidan spots him, gives him a sad look, and goes back to work. That look alone makes Cable stop in his tracks and just look as to why he gives him that look. But the look does not him from staring at Aidan's body, his slim but muscular figure, his movements from one location to another. Everything that Aidan is doing, he could not stop from admiring his small, tight body.
After about a minute of staring, he walks back to Melissa's house to have some food. He looks in the cabinets, only to find beans and canned soup. He looks in the fridge and finds mostly fruits and vegetables, so he takes a couple apples to have for breakfast. Melissa comes out from the bedroom with her wearing a see-through night gown and smiles at Cable. "You're up early.' She says.
"Y-yeah uh, wanted to get some air, that's all." He takes a couple bites of the apple as Melissa sits across from him.
"So, now that you're going to live in this town, you have to find some work to do around here. If you want to stay."
"Excuse me, Work? What work?"
"Everyone has to pull their own in keeping this town alive. Mark is usually the one to give out the jobs, so you can talk to him."
Cable nods as he finishes the first apple and bites into his second one. He looks out the kitchen window and sees the south gate from there. He slightly sees Aidan walking back to his house. "I'll be back." He throws the first apple away in the trash as he takes the second one and walks out the door. She closes the door behind him as Cable walks toward Aidan's house.
