They rush outside and head for the north end of the wall and see what looked like a sight from hell. From the looks of it, about a hundred Z's stumbling toward the town. The townspeople panicking, the soldiers taking positions on all sides of the wall to make sure no more Zombies come around. Mark rushes to the group of panicked townsfolk and tries to calm them down. "People, People! Please calm yourselves and listen to me!" Mark shouts out while holding an assault rifle in his hands. Slowly, each civilian calms and looks at their Mayor with panic and hope in their eyes, wondering what he is going to do.
"We have the capability to hold these zombies off, but we are uncertain if we can kill all of them. So what I would like you all to do is to go back to your homes, pack whatever you Need, and be ready to evacuate if we can't hold them off. If I should fall, I will order Aidan to retreat and he will lead you good people to safety. So please, go now! and pack all the weapons and medical supplies you can grab."
Gunfire is being heard behind him, and the townsfolk rush to their homes to pack. Mark goes up the ladder with the rifle on his back and looks at Aidan. "Are you serious about me taking over?" Aidan asks with nervousness in his voice. "I don't think that I can lead these people to safety." Mark puts his hand on his shoulder. "I believe in you Aidan, I always have, always will." He nods his head and turn their attention toward the zombie horde.
The horde is coming closer, and the soldiers begin to fire their weapons, but try to make every shot count. As the zombies get closer, with ten falling at a time, they begin falling into the holes that the townspeople made, which makes the battle easier. A horn can be heard from the other side of the town which signals that there is another horde on the opposite side. Mark signals three of the men to head over there to help them out while they continue to fight the Z's off. Cable kills more Z's than the others because of his advanced military training and his constant practice when he was in the city. Melissa and Connor are on the other side, fighting the other Z's, which bugs both him and Aidan.
After minutes of shooting, the Z's eventually die, but the gates on the other side of town falls. Once Mark sees this, he orders everyone to rush over there and have Aidan and Cable stay with the townsfolk. They both stay with them, and hear more screaming as they head over to the fallen wall. The constant fire and screaming has Cable shaking, and having a blank face, looking like a motionless statue. Thoughts and memories flow through his mind, his comrades falling, gunfire going over his head, blood on his hands and weapon. Aidan notices Cable, and his motionless body and walks to him to put a hand on his shoulder. "C-cable, are you alright?" Aidan asks with concern. Cable eventually snaps out of his war moment and looks into Aidan's eyes, "I'm fine...don't worry about it."
The firing stops except for one gun that is sounding further away from the town, but it eventually stops. "Cable, could you stay here?" Aidan asks Cable. He nods as Aidan rushes to the fallen wall. To his horror, only three of the ten soldiers remain alive, but none of those three were Melissa, nor Connor, He tries to find their bodies, but he only sees Melissa's torn corpse with a bullet in her head, from the looks of it, she did it herself before they even did anything worse. Aidan's eyes begin tearing up as he tries to find Connor's but he doesn't see his corpse, only a few unidentified bodies because of the Z's eating them or stepping on top of them. But a sudden jolt of concern and shock from inside him...Where's Mark?! He looks and looks, and finds one corpse that is a black fox with a blue tail, "I-is that him? Gods please don't let it be him.." Aidan thinks as he walks over to the body, he kneels down next to the limp corpse and slowly puts his hand on his shoulder to flip him over.
