As the two make their way out of the office, down the stairs, and out into the streets, they quickly walk back to the jeep. But as they walk back, they see their dismembered horse comrade. His guts ripped apart, and his arms torn off with bite marks all over his body with one gun shot wound in the head where Aidan fired which gave him mercy. The group rejoined with Cable sitting in the back with Melissa, Aidan riding in the passenger seat, Connor driving, and the cat looking out from the roof. Cable wraps his arm around Melissa as she rests her head on his chest. Aidan look in the mirror, and tries to pay no attention.

They reach the gates of the town and halt so the guard could recognize who they are. Once the female deer recognizes who they are, she opened the gates as we drive inside. While inside, the townsfolk surrounds the non-moving jeep and ask about the medicine, the ammo, and the group's new friend. Everyone talking at once, until Mark comes out and walks toward the group. The townsfolk stays silent as he approaches Aidan. "Welcome back everyone. Did you acquire everything that was tasked?" Mark says with stern in his voice. "Aidan nods his head as the cat in the back grabs a few bags of ammunition and weapons along with the medicine Aidan and Cable took. The townspeople all gasp, sighs of relief, and cheers as they grab the bags. Mark's stern look turns into a bright smile of joy and spirit. "Good job Aidan. But, I see one of the group is missing." Mark notices.

Aidan's ears flop back as the group looks down. "H-he didn't make it. we ran into some bandits and the Z's got to him before we could do anything. I....I did what had to be done and gave him mercy to end his pain...And to avoid him from turning."

Mark's hand rests on Aidan's shoulder and pats it. "It's alright. you did what was necessary, and there is nothing to be ashamed of. We will all hold a memoriam for his bravery." Mark looks up and sees Cable in the backset with Melissa. "And who is this?"

"That's Cable. we rescued him from the armory and he helped us take out those pesky bandits. Also uh, he's also my childhood friend." He looks down and blushes a bit before returning to his senses and looks back into Mark's eyes.

"I see. Well then, I guess its time to introduce myself to him." Mark walks to the back and looks at Cable. "Mr. Cable, it is on the behalf of the townsfolk that I welcome you to this safe haven we call home. My name is Marcus, the mayor of this town, but you may call me Mark."

Cable barely pays attention as he nods his head and salutes Marl as the townspeople clap. "Thanks for the intro I guess. it wasn't that big of a damn deal."

"On the contrary Mr. Cable, it is indeed a big deal. if it wasn't for your bravery, none of these faces would have come back home." Mark replies.

"Soooo, do I get a reward or something? You know, like a key to the town, or a million bucks?"

Marcus chuckles as he stares at him. "You'll fit in nicely, but the snapping isn't going to earn my trust anytime soon." He nods at Aidan before walking back to the town hall. The townsfolk walk away with the supplies. Cable and Melissa step out of the truck and start walking to her house. Aidan and Connor walk toward the town hall where Mark is expecting a report from what happened. After a couple hours of paperwork and the meeting, Aidan heads over to Melissa's house to check up on Cable, to see if he is doing alright. After he knocks, Aidan notices that door was not closed all the way, so he opens the door and walks in. He hears small screams, grunts, and moans coming from the bedroom. He inches closer to the door and peeks in. To his horror and surprise, he sees the two mating, with Cable on top, thrusting with his powerful hips. Aidan quietly, but hastily walks out of the house.

He sits there thinking to himself "Of course, what the hell was I thinking that Cable would notice someone like me. I was a fool for ever thinking that I would have a chance. I don't think I'm even his type." With his ears folded back and his back slouched over, he heads inside his home, unpacks his gear and lays in his bed, tired, alone, and heartbroken.
