Missing Pieces

I look up at the ceiling as I lie there listing to the heavy breathing coming from Papa. I actually felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off of my chest but then reality starts to rain down on me as I quickly sit up knocking the covers off of  me as I rest against the headboard and bring my knees to my chest as my body trembles. I done so many horrible things, but the worst one was the fact that I killed my best friend, I slaughtered her as if she was nothing and with that realization I break down. "Pandora?" Papa says in a gentle tone as I feel his hand on my shoulder. I just shrug him off and close my eyes tight. "Pandora come on now you know that you can talk to me about anything." I shake my head. "Papa..I must confess I have done a terrible deed..but you must understand my mind was not my own.." He brushes his thumb against my cheek as he looks into my eyes. "Please Sister lift this burden from your soul." I take a deep breath as I close my eyes. "I killed Sister Lilith. I don't even remember the details of it." Papa takes me into his arms, I could tell he was doing everything to stay calm. "How do you know you done this if you can not remember?" I shake my head as tears continue to fall. "Because I know I done this! I can feel it! I know I am a murderer!" "Enough!" Papa shouts as he looks at me. "I have failed you Pandora, I have failed you and I'm sorry! As pope it is my job to keep you safe from those who wish to harm you, from outside forces as well as those who threaten within our walls! I am suppose to protect my sisters and yet I can not even do that but thankfully I was able to break this oppression but I have a feeling the worst is yet to come so please Pandora stay alert and if possible just stay close to me..I want to protect you with all my ability." He looks down and sighs. "I'm going to inform Sister Imperator then we will take the next step but my brother will not go unpunished for what he has caused. I'm not going to waste any time with this..I'm going to speak to her please just be careful alright? Once you get to your chamber do not leave and do not open the door for anyone are we clear on this?" I nod as I look deep into his eyes. "Yes Papa, we are clear on this." He nods. "Good, I can't risk losing you.." He shakes his head as he stands up. "Once again I'm sorry for what has happen to you, I take full responsibility and now..I'm uncertain if I should even be pope." He takes a deep breath as he bends down to gather his clothes, he must have sensed I was getting ready to say something because he shakes his head as he looks up at me. "Please give me no pity, just get dressed and stay in your chamber, I will be to check on you later." He stands up and finishes getting dressed, as he fixes the last button he looks at me. "Remember Pandora you open that door for no one other than me but please try to remember anything else that you can, the slightest detail will help." He gives me a quick kiss on the forehead then walks out, keeping his head lowered.
