Charli dropped off the girls at their house, telling them she'd be home later that evening before driving to the boys' house.
Once she parked in their driveway, she reached into the back seat and grabbed her sweater and slipped it on; she was cold even though the early Californian evening was a bit humid. She got out of her car and locked it as she walked up to the door. Before she could raise her hand to knock, Daniel opened the door with a confused look on his face.
"We literally just saw you." He said as she stepped inside and she was about to respond when Corbyn came down the hall from his bedroom. He had changed into a ripped black sweater and sweatpants, his hair damp from a shower.
"Hey Charli, come on to my room." He said nodding his head towards the direction of his room and Charli gave Daniel one last look before following Corbyn. She walked slowly into his bedroom, red fairy lights were hanging across the room and illuminated the room enough for Charli to see he had made his bed, a few clothes were strewn by his ajar closet but other than that, the room was clean.
"You're such a neat freak still," Charli commented as Corbyn closed the door behind them, she slowly walked towards his bed and took a seat at the edge.
"Yeah well, some habits never change," he replied running his fingers through his hair trying to make it look presentable enough.
Charli decided not to reply noticing the difference in his attitude. She tried to think back to their conversations throughout the night but nothing struck her as off-putting as she felt in that moment.
Corbyn went to his nightstand and opened the top drawer, pulling out his camera carefully before closing the drawer back. He sat beside Charli and then looked over at her, she looked at the camera then at him.
"Did you pick up photography again?"
Corbyn nodded staring down at his camera and then he smiled softly, looking back to Charli.
"I've been working on this project, I named it gold. I'm not going to release it until I'm sure of it but after you guys announced you're coming to Cali, I realized I still had old pictures from back home when we all weren't known and did all that crazy stuff and we didn't have to worry about the media. I want to also document us now, the progress and our friendships. We have so many memories and moments cause in those moments we were free, we were golden and no one mattered in our world than us, and I want to continue that and - and I was wondering if you'd help me?"
Charli stuttered over her words " Uh, yeah, yeah sure, how?"
Corbyn chuckled and turned on his camera, "I could photograph your art pieces, we could photograph stuff together. It's a big project and I want someone that I trust physically, mentally, and artistically with this. Maybe it could be my second big break?" Charli giggled and Corbyn laughed with her.
"I'm excited! I mean this could boost you by so much."
"And you," Corbyn said and Charli shrugged, he continued on, "Since you're going to be helping me, I'm not around the girls as much as you, when you guys have one of those nights were you guys end up somewhere far from home, document it, add it to the project. It won't be easy."
"I know but that's the best part!" Corbyn grinned at her then poked her cheek.
"I seriously missed you ya know? Like sometimes I regret ever leaving."
