Mental

Lizzie's POV

I couldn't stop thinking about the kiss for a very long time. Why didn't I pull away? Because you like him you idiot! I don't even know who I like anymore. I'm seriously mental.

'No your not.' I heard a voice call from behind me. I turned to see Simon standing behind me.

'Holy shit Simon! You almost gave me a heart attack! Wait... Did I say that out loud?' I yelled, clutching my rapidly beating heart. He chuckled slightly. His face then twisted in confusion.

'What were you even talking to yourself about?' He asked. I paused and contemplated whether I should tell him or not.

'Nothing. I was just saying that I'm mental!' I lied.

'You sure?' He questioned. I nodded quickly and he shrugged. 'Alright.' He said before waving and heading back into the forest.

'Wait!' I called. He turned and I ran up to him. 'Wait.' I whispered. He nodded and stared into my eyes. I closed my eyes and shook my head a bit before quickly placing my dry lips on his soft ones. This kiss was unlike any other. I know I said that about Ralph, but this one was different. A gazillion firecrackers were going off in my head, and my stomach exploded in butterflies with machine guns. My head was spinning, and the best part was, he was kissing me back! He wasn't rough like Jack, or too gentle like Ralph, and he certainly wasn't anything like Roger, who I would love to forget about.

I had to pull away first, cause I knew he couldn't control himself. He was panting heavily, and smiling like he just won the lottery. I, too was smiling like an idiot. I didn't think that he was going to kiss me back, and when he did, it brought a huge smile to my face.

'What're you guys doing over there?' I heard a familiar voice call. Of course, I was stuck on an island with a bunch of boys, so I would recognize the voice. Simon's eyes went wide and he turned quickly to see only Peter standing in the clearing, looking helpless as always. I sighed in relief and walked up to the small child. I kneeled down so I was eye level with him and he smiled shyly at me.

'We were just having a big kid talk. Why don't you go and build a sandcastle, and in a little bit I'll come help you, okay?' I told him. He nodded and ran off towards the beach.

'Your great with children.' Simon spoke from behind me. I turned and smiled warmly at him. He came and hugged me, and luckily we were the same height, or it would have been awkward.

'Well I do have a little sister, so yeah, I would hope that I'm good with kids!' I answered. He chuckled and let go of me. 'Lets go back to the beach, yeah? I gotta help Peter finish his sandcastle!' I said and ran through the bushes and back to the beach.

'All done!' I smiled proudly, looking at the sandcastle that Peter and I had made. It was pretty cool. There was a moat that we filled with water, three stories, a bridge, cool windows, pretty designs, and cool shells and pebbles. Peter was beaming at the creation, and I couldn't help but smile at the adorable face that he was making. He reminded me of my little sister. She would pull the same face when we made something together. I would do most of the work, but I always gave her all the credit because her cute little smile made my day.

I was interrupted from my thoughts when Roger came over and jumped right on top of it. Peter's face fell and he started crying. Roger seemed to enjoy making the child cry, so he jumped on it a couple more times.

'Get outta here before I punch you in the nose.' I uttered angrily.

'Ha! You would never do that!' He laughed. I got up from my sitting position, walked right up to him, and punched him square in the nose.

'Never say never!' I smirked and walked back over to Peter. 'Hey kiddo!' I spoke softly, 'It was fun while it lasted, but don't worry, we can always make another one another time. But for now, lets go get something to eat, yeah?' He nodded slightly and I helped him up. I smiled devilishly at Roger once again before advancing into the brush with the little boy following closely behind me. We reached the tree where all the fruits were, and I grabbed a banana for Peter, along with one for myself.

'Hey, where's Ralph?' Piggy asked, jogging clumsily up to us, panting like a dog in a hot car.

'I don't know, where's Simon?' I asked back.

'He's over with Jack, they were talking about some sort of deal or something.' He answered.

'Where are they?' I demanded.

'By the bathing pool, but-' I didn't even bother to listen to what he had to say before I bolted over to the pool.

When I reached the pond, I searched around for any sign of them, and saw them chatting by a tree. I walked over to them cautiously, not wanted to make it obvious that I was trying to hear what they were saying, even though I was.

'Oh, hey!' Jack noticed my approaching presence and waved me over. I walked slowly over to them, it was super awkward, standing beside the person I've been making out with for the past week, and the person who I'm supposed to be in love with.

'Hey...' I said awkwardly.

'Hey, what's wrong?' Simon asked.

'Oh, nothing!' I tried to seem less awkward, but on the inside, it was awkward galore. 'So, what are you guys talking about?' I asked.

'Just the weather.' Lie. You're a fucking liar Simon.
