"You're leaving! When?" Sophia screamed. I placed my finger on her lips to make her quiet. Since Brent asked me out, I can safely say that she is my best friend.

"At the end of this year." I informed her. I'm now 16 and halfway through junior year.

"That's so unfair," She frowned, "How does Brent feel about this?"

"I-er I-I haven't told him..." I stuttered and looked down.

"Tallulah you HAVE to tell him sooner or later. It'll break his heart but if you tell him now, I assure you he'll understand." Sophia advised.

"Okay I'll tell him."

"Good because he's coming this way." Sophia smiled and waved at Brent as he approached us.

"So what were you 2 girls talking about?" He asked, taking a bite out of his sandwich.

"Go on." Sophia whispered as she nudged my shoulder. Brent raised his eyebrow at me.

"It's erm, what I'm doing for the fair. I'm erm thinking of erm doing an erm kissing booth. I just wanted to see if you were erm alright with me doing it." I said looking down, how many 'Erms' did I say?

Brent sighed, "You can do it. Everyone knows you're mine and no one will try anything on you. You're MY girlfriend and hopefully we'll still be together at the end of senior year."

"We have to go now Brent." Sophia said trying to hide her anger. She grabbed my arm and dragged me away.

"Hey, I didn't say bye to him." I whined. Sophia let go of me and I ran back to Brent.

"Bye." I smiled and kissed him. As I got back to Sophia she scowled at me.

"FYI, if Brent knew he'd try to make long-distance work but he doesn't. He's going to hate you for not telling him." She said. Maybe I should've told him...

I sat in my usual seat for Science and waited for instructions. We were doing an experiment with hydrochloric acid and metals. I got myself prepared by putting on a lab coat and tying my hair up.

Sophia (my partner) went away for a bit, obviously because she was still angry with me for not telling Brent I was leaving. I was just about to write down my observations when someone tapped me. I turned around to see it was Rebecca and I realised she was holding some acid.

"Payback bitch." She whispered and poured some acid on my hands.

" OW REBECCA." I screamed as I ran towards the sink.

"No running in the lab." Mr Smart said. The pain was unbearable and blisters began forming on my skin.

"Sir," I said but he didn't hear me, " SIR!" He turned around and saw me crying. Mr Smart called off the experiment and went to assist me.

"How did you do this?" He asked, patting my hand down with a cloth.

I couldn't speak because the pain was excruciating. I just nodded towards Rebecca who had her mouth wide open. Was she regretting her actions? Highly unlikely.

"Rebecca, headmaster's office NOW." Mr Smart shouted. She didn't even fight back, she just went. My skin began peeling and rashes began to form.

"Harvey take her to the nurse's office quickly!" Harvey grabbed my arm and we left the classroom.

"I swear, Rebecca has gotten on my final nerve," Harvey said as we walked, "You are one of my closest friends and something like that won't go down." Harvey clenched his right fist. I smiled knowing that I did have friends who supported me.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"Come in." A cheerful voice exclaimed. The nurse gasped when she saw my hands and told me to sit down immediately. Harvey left to return to the lesson but I didn't want to be on my own.

"How did this happen?" The nurse asked as she rubbed my skin with antibacterial fluids. I winced in pain.

"Some acid was spilt on me." I managed to get out. The nurse nodded as she concentrated on the bandages which were being wrapped around my hand.

Someone knocked on the door and they were told to come in. Brent appeared with Sophia and Harvey by his side.

"Harvey told me what happened," Brent began, "Are you okay?"

I shrugged, not wanting to speak as my voice was cracking. The nurse left us to talk. I rubbed my bandages and frowned. Sophia sat beside me and started crying.

"This is all my fault! I shouldn't have left you by yourself." She sobbed into my shoulder.

"It's okay." I whispered.

"No it isn't okay Tallulah. Your hand is in bandages because I was angry with you. How could I be so irresponsible?" Her voice began to crack and Harvey stood her next to him to comfort her. Those two have been getting particularly close if you ask me.

The bell rang signalling the end of the day. Harvey and Sophia left together, hand in hand. It was just me and Brent left.

"I don't know what to do anymore." Brent admitted.

"What do you mean?" I haven't seen Brent like this before and it killed me inside. A few tears escaped from his eyes.

"I don't know how to keep us together. Or how to stop Rebecca. Its just stressful, I love you Tallulah and I don't want you to forget that." Brent smashed his lips against mine and rubbed my hands. The kiss got a little bit more intimate and I wrapped my arms around Brent's neck as he wrapped his around my waist. We parted and Brent asked, "Do you want to go home?" I nodded in response.
