I sat in the waiting room and bit my nails. My feet continuously tapped against the floor and I was constantly frowning.

"Mrs Rivera-" a voice said. Her voice was sweet and calming. I continued looking down as I didn't realise it was me she wanted. The woman coughed and I looked up.

"Mrs Rivera, the doctor will see you now." She smiled.

"I'm not Mrs Rivera." I laughed and her forehead creased.

"Well then if that lovely young man isn't your husband then who is he?" She asked and I smiled at the compliment.

"He's not my husband yet." I sighed and she nodded before guiding me into the ward.

"Okay Tallulah, this is gonna be a little cold." The doctor told me as he applied the gel. The cold gooey substance caused me to shiver and goose bumps formed on my skin. He

placed the sensor on my rather big bump and moved it around.

"What's that?" I asked. Although the monitor was in black and white, the image of my baby still looked beautiful.

"That's the arm and if you look over here you'll see the head." The doctor pointed and I smiled. My baby's head and arm.

"When's the baby due?" Brent asked as he held my hand.

"Considering the features this child already has, I'd say in about 4-5 months so probably November."

"That's great." Brent replied and held my hand tighter.

"Wait hold on." The doctor said and my heart sank.

"What what is it?" I asked as my heart felt broken.

"There's another head." The doctor informed as he pointed to behind the first child. A little round bump moved around and you could see the extra head.

"How-how?" I stuttered.

"Tallulah, Brent. You're having twins."

"Oh." Brent was shocked and he gulped. The doctor smiled before handing me some wipes to clean my stomach with. He left us alone so I could get changed and Brent held his head in his hands.

"What's wrong?" I asked putting my sweater back on.

"We can't afford having 2 kids Tallulah. The nursery I made was made for one child." He explained and I frowned.

"At least try to make this work Brent," I begged and Brent just looked up at me, "Please."

I couldn't do this on my own. These kids needed a father, their real father.

"I don't know how but we'll make this work. For Gracie and Max's sake." He said touching my bele. I kissed him and he smiled into it.

"Oh sorry, didn't mean to interrupt." Dr Hudson apologised as he came into the ward with an envelope.

"Oh yeah oops." I blushed.

"These are your results. They contain the genders of the 2 babies and the date they are due."

I smiled and collected the envelope before leaving.

"Thanks Dr Hudson but we won't be needing it." I waved.

"Your welcome but still take it if you change your mind." And we were off.

I held the envelope securely in my hand as I sat in the passenger seat.

"You ready?" Brent asked as I buckled my seat belt. I nodded and stared out of the window. My hand rested on Brent's thigh and I rubbed it. He placed his left hand on mine and squeezed my hand.

"I don't know what I'll do without you." I said whilst raising my hand to kiss his.

"Well you don't have to worry about that because I'm here." Brent turned to look at me and smiled.

"BRENT LOOK OUT!" I screamed and Brent swerved the car off the road as another car sped towards us. The car rolled downhill and Brent couldn't stop it. We landed full force into a ditch and tumbled around and around.

I heard a loud bang. I turned to see Brent's forehead dripping with blood. The airbags only just came out and an excruciating pain came from my stomach. I looked out the window to find that we were upside down and I had to get upright. My hand reached for the handle but the door was jammed. I banged on the frame and the window with a spanner and eventually it broke. My knuckles had shards of glass stuck into it but I didn't care. Right now I had to get the babies safe as well as Brent.

I sat down on the bank and looked at my now destroyed car. Brent's unconscious body was put in a stroller and pushed into the ambulance. I followed him as I twiddled my fingers.

"How did this happen?" One of the paramedics asked.

"We-we were in the car under the speed limit and then another car was heading our way. It was driving in the wrong side of the road." I explained and he nodded.

"Did anything happen to you?"

"My stomach just hurt a bit but not anymore. I may have hit it against something but not severely." I shrugged and the paramedic put away his folder. The next few minutes felt like hours but we finally met Brent's family and my best friends at the hospital.

"What happened?" Brent's mum asked me as she ran up to me to examine my body.

"We got in a car crash, kind of." I answered and tears rolled down the cheeks of Brent's mum before hugging me.

"Are the grand kids alright?" She asked as she touched my stomach.

"Yes they are fine. Excuse me I need to go to the toilet." She nodded and I followed the signs towards the toilet.

I sat down and did my business in about a minutes time. As I stood up I noticed blood.

"Must've been from the previous person." I said and swallowed saliva.

I clutched my stomach again as the pain came back.

"Tallulah what's taking so long?" Ashley asked as she walked into the bathroom. She saw me and guided me out of the toilets. I screamed as the pain increased.

"Ashley I need to sit down. I'll be okay, just get me some pills." I said.

"No you can't have them while you're pregnant. I'm going to get a doctor." She ran towards the reception and returned with a doctor.

"Tallulah you need to get up on the count of three," Dr Hudson said.

"How do you know her name?" Ashley asked and he smiled.

"I did her scan this morning. Shame I have to see her again in this state. Okay 3, 2, 1!"

I was guided to a different ward and Ashley was told to get changed into an apron if she wanted to stay with me.

"Okay so your heart and lungs are fine." Dr Hudson said and Ashley smiled.

"It's my stomach not my chest." I told the doctor and he nodded. The scanner was moved downwards and Dr Hudson frowned.

"There's only one heartbeat." He informed me.

"I thought I was having twins. Shouldn't there be two?" I asked as I realised what the blood earlier meant.

"You were," he sighed and I began to cry. Ashley leaned over to me and hugged me so I cried into her chest, "I'm sorry Tallulah but you lost one of the babies during the crash."

Just after she found out she was having twins, one of them dies...
