Chapter 17

>Alex's Pov<

John wore a cute red plaid shirt and I just wore a white t-shirt. Honestly John could dress a lot better then I could. We walked to campus hand and hand, we were both a little off edge, Jefferson was in like every one of my classes. Which was intimidating, like a lot. It set me off edge knowing I'm so much more vulnerable now then ever.

We got to Washington's classroom and I didn't move, I didn't go inside I didn't walk away, I stood in front of the door taking shallow breathes. 

"Hey are you okay? We can wait another day to go to school if you want?" I heard John reassure me, he was holding my hand making circles with his thumb in a calming manner. I realized John didn't get the okay to stay out of school for me, only I did, so not going to school could have gotten him expelled, all the times I said one more day was one more day closer to him being expelled. I really have been selfish these past weeks. I gripped his hand tighter turning to him so we where face to face, I grabbed his other hand and looked into his eyes, if didn't talk soon I would just get lost in his jade eyes radiating off his pupils. I could stare into his optics for hours at a time. 

"No John, I have been very selfish about all this. I didn't realize you were putting yourself in danger for me. We are going today, I don't care if I'm scared." I said inhaling deeply. I was fearful about Jefferson, if he would try to attack me again, but this is school, and John will be with me. He nodded and opened the door, the class was half full as we got here earlier. Jefferson and Madison weren't here yet thankfully. I had time to gather myself. 

"Hey are you okay?" John asked as we took our normal seats and Laf soon sat next to me Herc trailing behind. 

"Yeah I'm a tad nervous, but really excited to be back at school." I said awkwardly rubbing the back of my neck. He nodded turning to his sketch book when everyone got a ding on their phone, soon all four of us were on the phone.

Imnotintenseorinsane: hey guys we are on our way, Aaron was arguing with Charles Lee and we practically had to tare him away from the debate, speaking of debates, cant wait to see you crush Thomas in yours Alexander

Non-Stop: What do you mean? 

Helpless: you know, the debate Washington has been talking about for weeks until your recovery? I thought you knew?

Non-Stop: I- OH MY GOSH! I totally forgot that its today! I don't have anything down???

AndPeggy: Calm down! Its about Miranda's financial plan? you should have it down

Aaronburrsir: Yeah haven't you been studying Miranda for years! You can come up with a simple rap on the spot I'm sure!

Non-Stop: I'm supposed to rap too? I love Washington, but really? I guess it sounded fun when he announced it.

Baguette: Don't worry mon ami you got this! Bonne chance! 

Non-stop: Thanks Laf..

I set my phone down seeing the rest of the group come in and sit behind us four, John gave me a pat on the back, wow even he wanted me to do this. I took out my book with fact about Miranda and Diggs. I had no idea what I was gonna do.

"I would like to have Hamilton and Jefferson please come to the front." Washington spoke, my fear level was maxed out. I stood wearily and walked to the front facing Jefferson.

"So this debate Is about the cabinet meeting with the issue of Secretary Miranda's plan to assume state debt and establish a national bank. I want you to use each others name instead to stay in character. Secretary Jefferson, you have the floor sir." I thought of how crazy it would be if I was a Secretary against Jefferson.
