Chapter 8 The hang-out

            After our class we went to Vince’s place. We decided to grill some barbeque, hotdogs and marshmallows outside. The boys grilled while me and my friends decided to swim. When the boys is done grilling, we get out of the water and join them to eat.

“hey, chase how is your grandmother?” asked Jane with concern

“she’s fine now, thanks for the concern Jane” Chase said smiling at her.

 “let’s play” I shouted excitedly at them grinning at Jane and Chase.

“uh..what kind of play?”

“ let’s play spin the bottle” I said then we heard the door bell

“okay I’ll get a bottle then look who is outside” vince answered me then leave us. When he came back he is with my brother. I run to him and hugged him.

“hai brother, why are you here? I thought your going somewhere today”

“yes my dear sister, and I forgot to tell you that I’m going here, You’re so wet, stop hugging me now” he said annoyed, I let him go and went back to where I’m sitting before, all of them looking at us.

“he is your brother?” Arthelene asked us open mouthed.

“oh yeah, this is my brother Drake, Drake this is arthelene, Khaye, and Jane” I said pointing at them one by one, my brother didn’t react, when I looked at him he is staring at Arthelene. Well they are staring at each other. I’m about to ask a question when Vince broke the silence.

“here’s the bottle guys, let’s play, this is going to be fun, and drake will join us.” He said, we make a small around the bottle. “ so who will the first one to ask question?” I asked them “Me” Kian said in monotone looking at me. “okay” I said giving him the bottle.

“Wait, what will be the punishment?” my brother asked

“shot” Chase shouted excitedly then stand up and get some drinks.  He spin the bottle, all of us silent excited to know who will be the first to have a shot. The bottle slows then it pointed at me. There is a silence when the bottle stopped and pointed at me. But why did I suggest playing this? What if he will ask me about the night he saw me crying? Why do I care what Kian will think of me? Am I falling for our school’s bad boy? Hell, of course not.

Yes you are. My brain said

Oh, brain shut up. He is the school’s bad boy for god’s sake. I will never fall for him.

Yeah shut up brain. She will never fall for him. My heart said

Well, the good girls always fall for the bad boys.

Not all, okay, besides you’re not the one who can feel it, remember I am the one who will feel it.

Just shut up okay? I don’t need you to lecture me know.

Wait, my organs are talking, oh my god, what is happening to me? I’m going to be crazy.

I heard my brain again. You’re so dramatic. Yeah, maybe I’m just being dramatic.

I’m in my panic mode when I heard someone calling my attention.

 “uhhh..yeah?” I said looking at them.

“Truth or Dare?”

“Truth” I answered him with confidence.

  “Do you have any crush in our school?” he asked me seriously. Well I don’t know, but they won’t believe me I say that I don’t have any crush in our school. But I don’t want to lie.

“None” I said waiting for their reaction. He looked at me, trying to know if I’m lying but arthelene talked.

“It’s true, She doesn’t have any crush in our school.” She said her mouth full of mallows. Gross.

“Okay”.

“”dude, you need to shot” Chase told him while giving him a drink.

“I’m the next” Chase shouted

Again, the bottle stopped in front of me. “hey, you’re cheating, you stopped it” I yelled at him

“awww.. she called me a cheater, that hurts Maura” he said touching his chest while faking a cry.

“fine. But I will be the next to spin. And it’s truth. No need to ask”

“okay, okay. Here is your question Ms. Maura Sparks, If a bad boy will ask you in a date will you say yes?” I’m shocked at his question. I looked at Kian asking him if he said anything about our date in Saturday but he shake his head saying no.

“yes I will, why are you asking me out?” I said at him smiling.

“of course not. No offense Maura you’re pretty but you’re not my type, besides I like you as my friend” He said looking at me with his signature smirk.

“okay, I will be the one to spin now” the bottle stopped in front of Jane. I looked at her then our other friends, they are all smiling except for Chase and jane.

“Truth or dare?

“Truth”

“okay, do you like Chase? I mean do you have a crush on him?” I said all of us watch the two of them exchange glance. We are all smiling at them until my brother laughed. We all looked at him for an answer.

“What? Common Jane answer it” he asked us then talked to Jane. We all waited for her answer.

“Yes” She said her head vowed. Her cheeks turning into red.

“oh my god, look she’s blushing” I squealed, their attention back to me. “ did I say something wrong?”I asked them but just shrugged.

“I like you to Jane” Chase said to her holding her hand. . “they are so cute.” I said to kian, well he is sitting beside me. The play went on. After the play, we decided to swim again. This is so fun. I wish we can have all the time to do this. When we felt tired. We decided to go home. My friends and Chase went to my brothers car.

“hey, chase, get out, that’s my place” I yelled at him gesturing him to come out, but he ignored me. I pouted at my brother but he just laughed at my attitude. “ sister, Kian will give you a ride, besides your friends will be fine, I will not eat them, and chase is coming with me because we will go somewhere later” he said at me like I was an 5 years old,.

“I enjoyed it” I said to Kian when we are on our way to our place.

“ I enjoyed it too, we can do it again  during weekends”

“yeah, that’s cool”

“so, tomorrow at 9?” he asked me. I almost forgot about our date tomorrow. The rest of the ride is silent. But it’s good, I thanked him and went inside. My brother is not home yet, I went to my room take a shower and changed. I’m too tired to call my friends and ask if they are already home, so I just laid in my bed and closed my eyes.
