"Only 40 on a good day."

Thankfully, Melissa didn't see all the blood on Scott's shirt and what was left of it on my hands. When I got home I noticed the door was slightly open. My fingers trailed the place of where the door was, most likely, kicked in. Instead of calling 911 first, I silently walked in on my own like a stereotypical white person in a horror film. At least I was smart enough to not yell 'hello?' or 'is someone there?'. I took small steps, trying not to make any noise. Before I entered the living room, I quickly listened for a heartbeat and there was one. A faint one, but still. I took one more step and then I saw someone standing there. "Good. You are finally home," the person said, who turned out to be a man. A man I knew very well, unfortunately. "Gerard," I said, but it came out as a question.
"You must be curious about what happened outside of the hospital." "Why did you do that to Scott? You could've killed him," I said, pretending to be scared. To be honest, I kinda was. "I'm pretty sure the wound healed before he got home," Gerard said. "But you knew that already." "What do you want with me?" I asked and in the meantime I was eyeing the place, looking for a potential weapon to defend myself.
"I want to make it clear that even though you are human, you could still become a person on my hitlist if you get in the way," Gerard said. I frowned. He doesn't know. How? Probably because Chris and Victoria were acting or actually being nice to me. Gerard took a few big steps towards me and I saw he was holding a knife. I frantically looked behind me as I stepped back, but before I knew it I hid the wall. My eyes went wide as Gerard came closer and stood directly in front of me.
The knife slowly made a cut on my arm and I screamed. Gerard put his hand over my mouth and tears were streaming down my cheeks. I could feel the blood seep through my finger. I stopped myself from healing so Gerard wouldn't know about me, but fuck, this hurt like a bitch. "Consider this a warning," Gerard said and let go of me. As he walked away, I slid down the wall until I was sitting on the floor. I just stared ahead and suddenly I heard a car stop in front of my house. Suddenly I felt 2 hands on my shoulders and someone calling my name. I blinked a few times and saw Allison kneeling next to me. "What happened?" "Gerard," I whispered. I lost quite a lot of blood and I had to use all my strength to stay awake.
"Why aren't you healing?" Allison asked as she grabbed a towel and pressed it on the wound. I groaned in pain. "Sorry," she whispered. "The wound is healing, but losing a lot of blood isn't 'healed' that quickly. Can you get my some food or something to drink, please?" Allison nodded and pulled my uninjured arm towards the towel and pressed my hand on it. I groaned when I put pressure on the wound and I heard Allison rumaging through the fridge. "I got some carrots here," I heard Allison say and I told her that that was fine. She squated in front of me and held a carrot in front of my mouth. I took a bite and Allison positioned herself on the floor. She took a bite and frowned.
