"Well, at least for now."

     "I am. I have been for a while now. Unfortunately, science doesn't have a cure for cancer yet." My eyes went to Chris when I realised he was going to lose another family member. "But the supernatural does." As soon as he said the words I figured out his plan. He was going to use Derek to give him the bite and cure his cancer and once he was ready he'd kill Derek and become the alpha himself. Gerard looked up at his pet and Jackson's hold on Allison tightened. "You monster," Chris told his father. "Not yet." Another step towards Allison. "What are you doing?" she cried out. Another step. "You'd kill her too?" "When it comes to survival, I'd kill my own son."

     Everyone was keeping an eye out for each other, just in case. But when Scott didn't answer Gerards calls, he ordered the Kanima to finish her. "No! Wait!" I was in front of Allison and the Kanima hissed in my face. "I'll do it." A tear left my eye and I heard Gerard laugh. He didn't even know, but here I am standing in front of the girl I love, offering a man I hate the bite just so he could kill me and-or Derek to gain his Alpha status. "What makes you think you could-" I turned my head and showed him my eyes which made him shut up immediately. I knew he wasn't going to let Allison go, but I kept my ground and looked at her, tears in my eyes. I heard several pleads behind me not to do it. Derek being the loudest to tell me not to do it.

     "I love you," I whispered and a tear rolled down my cheek. I saw Chris take a step towards me and I shook my head at him. "Rebekah, don't! You know he's going to kill you or me right after," Derek said while still on the floor. "That's true, but I think she already knows that, don't you, Rebekah?" I stared at the man before looking at the rest and Allison again. "She knows that the ultimate price is Allison. Do this small task for me and they can be together. You are the only piece that doesn't fit, Derek. And in case you haven't learned yet, there's just no competing with young love." I took a deep breath and made my way to Gerard, who removed his blazer and rolled up his sleeve.

     I stood behind Gerard who held out his arm. I grabbed his arm and let my canines grow. "I'm sorry," I whispered and bit his wrist. I felt my teeth sink into his flesh and Gerard screamed in pain. Only a few seconds later I let go of the man, taking a few steps back and wiping my mouth. I kept my eyes on Gerard as a took a few more steps away from the man. Everyone did the same and kept watching the man, but then something happened I hadn't anticipated.

     "What the fuck is happening?" I said and everyone was confused. I heard Gerard mumble a 'what' and he checked the bite I had given him. Black goo was oozing out of the bitemark. "What is this? What did you do?" I made my way to the rest and with wide eyes I listened to the next conversation. "Everyone said that Gerard had a plan," Scott started. "I had a plan, too." Gerard groaned a little and grabbed the little pan that held his pills. He put them on his hand and broke them in his fist. Black ashes came out of his fist and I realised what Scott had done. "Mountain ash!" Gerard exclaimed. The black goo started pouring out of his nose, eyes and ears and he fell to his knees. We all watched the man throwing up the black goo until he collapsed.
