Now we're getting to the fun stuff! Of course the Valdt has dragons, but there are also many relatives of dragons known as dracotypes that have similar traits but aren't dragons, such as sea serpents, basilisks, hydras, Hongalungs, wyverns, wyrms, and others. And there are plenty of interesting creatures that aren't even remotely related to dragons as well that still are very interesting.

The Last Bedazzilisk
The Last Bedazzilisk is a long serpentine creature guarding the magical fountain of Callipsym which holds the last truly pure waters in the Valdt. The water has extreme healing powers and its purity is why the Red Shadow seeks it out. The Last Bedazzilisk has gills that were sliced long ago by the Red Shadow's claws in an epic battle for the control over the waters. The Last Bedazzilisk is covered in scales like white opals and her eyes look like the starry sky. She is kind of heart and pure of soul like the waters she guards. Because of her slit gills, her breathing sounds like eerie and sorrowful music that is haunting and beautiful at the same time.

The Red Shadow
The Red Shadow was once one of the first dragons to walk the Valdt and his scales were once pure white. But he tainted the pure waters with the blood of another dragon, staining his scales forever red. Over the years he tried to take over the Valdt, until he was banished from physical existence. He is now a dracolitch and a master of darkness and evil, and although he cannot physically harm any creature, he can whisper seeds of evil into one's ear and manipulate an innocent soul into evil. He is the reason that evil and pain and suffering exist in the Valdt. He is known simply as the Red Shadow as a reminder of the blood he shed in the beginning of the Valdt and because he is merely a shadow of the beautiful dragon he once was. He can be banished for short periods of time, but because he is a disembodied soul of evil he cannot be killed.

Wyrms
Wyrms are so closely related to dragons that it is nearly impossible to tell them apart anatomically except that wyrms cannot fly and lack wings. Like dragons they can have anywhere from zero to eight limbs. Wyrms have the ability to breathe fire or other elemental breath weapons, and they come in many variations. Sometimes lung dragons can be mistaken as wyrms, but if a wyrm gets up and takes to the sky, even if it has no wings, it is a dragon. Wyrms do not get as big as dragons, but because they are anatomically identical, wyrms and dragons can crossbreed with ease although this rarely happens because dragons and wyrms often keep to their own kinds. Some variations of water dwelling wyrms have wing like flippers, but they cannot fly, unlike sea dragons.
