“Why are you in the US?” He asked me with a confused look on his face. “Didn’t Jess tell you?” I enquired completely baffled and he shook his head in response. “The wicked witch sent me over here to finish the ‘healing’ process.” I explained. “Candy is so annoying.” Jason stated. He didn’t like Dr Steel either; he thought that she was a complete waste of time and money. “I still can’t believe you’re here. You didn’t come to visit us at Easter or Christmas.” I pouted. “I’ve been a little busy.” He admitted smiling sheepishly. Marcus coughed and I realised that I’d forgotten that he was standing there.

“Who is this?” Jason asked raising an eyebrow at me. “This is my partner for this month, Marcus.” I introduced him. They gave each other the ‘sup nod and I rolled my eyes. “I think we better be getting back to the hotel now.” Marcus suggested and I nodded reluctantly. I hugged Jason tight because I didn’t know when I would be seeing him again. “How about I take you at to dinner tonight? We really need to catch up.” He asked me and I grinned. “Yeah that would be great.” I agreed. “I’ll call you later to tell you when I’ll pick you up.” He said grinning then his smile slipped. “Do you still have the same number? I haven’t called you in...” He trailed off at the end. “Almost a year.” I finished off for him. He scratched the back of his neck. “Yeah I still have the same number. Just make sure you call this time Jay!” I replied before walking off with Marcus.

We walked up to our hotel room and I pulled my curls up into a ponytail. “Your hair is nice curly.” Marcus commented from behind me. I turned around and gave him a small smile. “Thanks dude.” I replied. There was an awkward silence where I was trying to find something to talk about. I really hate being alone with boys – I have nothing interesting to say and it’s just awkward. I almost cheered when there was a knock at the door. I opened it to see Lia and Hayley smiling. “Hey guys.” I greeted them. “We were just wondering if you guys want to come down to our room. A few people are chilling out down there.” Hayley told us. “Vanessa has a dinner to get ready for but I will go down now. See you later Vanessa.” He replied and then walked out of the door quickly.

“What the hell was that all about?” Lia asked. “I have no idea.” I admitted shaking my head before walking to my closet. I picked a light summer blue dress that Jason had bought me. I put on some blue cotton shorts underneath just in case it got windy later and my white sandals. “You seem to be dressing up.” Lia commented. “Not really.” I said shrugging. “I’m gonna take a quick shower. Are you guys gonna go back down to your room now?” I asked arching an eyebrow. “Of course not silly.” Hayley chided rolling her eyes. “Why not? Everyone’s chilling down there right?” I asked confused. “We have to help you get ready for your date.” Lia replied in tone that suggested that it was obvious. “It’s not a date!” I protested but Lia and Hayley just pushed me into the bathroom and closed the door.

“For the last time, it is not a date.” I told them. “Whatever Ness.” Hayley replied. My phone rang and my face lit up in a smile and I picked up. “I’m outside your hotel now.” He told me. “I’m coming down now.” I replied before hanging up. “Not a date my ass.” Lia commented but I chose to ignore her. They forced me to put mascara and eyeliner on. They also put on this annoying lip gloss – what the hell is wrong with Vaseline? They pulled my hair into a high ponytail because apparently I hid my face with my hair. I turned around and glared at both of them. “I really hate you guys.” I told them. They both rolled their eyes. “Come on; I want to meet your mystery man.” Lia gushed and I sighed before allowing them to drag me out of the room.

I saw him looking around for me. “Jay!” I called out and his eyes landed on me. He walked over and I could hear Lia and Hayley giggling beside me. “Wow you look beautiful Ness.” He told me before pulling me into a hug. “Are you friends with Ness?” He asked the girls. “Yes we are!” Hayley answered. “Damn he is hot!” Lia whispered loudly to me. “Well I’m happy that my little sister has found good friends like you.” He replied slinging an arm around my shoulders. “Sister?” They both said in unison and Jay frowned. “Didn’t Ness tell you?” He asked glancing at me. “I tried to tell you guys.” I told them softly.  “Do you wanna get some dinner now Ness?” Jay asked breaking the awkward silence. “Oh sorry; we’re keeping you! See you later Ness.” Hayley said coming to her senses and started to walk away. “It was nice meeting you.” She told my brother smiling. “Nice to meet you too.” He replied grinning before she walked away. I could tell Lia had a crush on him and I couldn’t help but smile.
