Chapter 11: The call

Lisa and I seemed to finally be happy again, the world seemed to be at peace. Brian hadn't tried anything, Kailey, bailey and Sage were friends again. Life seemed to be good again.

Shane's POV

I woke up to a slight breeze and a shinning sun peeking through the opened window. The day started off with lisa and I going out to an early brunch, I watched as lisa put her makeup on and do her hair, I liked watching I never knew why but it always seemed to make me happy.

"What's the date?" Lisa asked putting the last coat of mascara on her lashes. "June 10th" I answered while taking in her scent. "You do know Sages birthday is in two days, and since its her first birthday without her family, I think it should be special" she said sitting down next to me. "Yeah... Don't worry it'll be special"

We decided on going to Hugo's for brunch, since I go their almost everyday.

We had spent half of our conversation on Sages birthday dinner and the other half on

Some video ideas. After about two hours of eating and conversing we left saying goodbye to my favorite waitress Christy. Lisa had to go to work at the theater and I had some planning to do so I kissed lisa goodbye and drove off to my or my moms house.

My mom lived about 35 minutes away so it wasn't to much of a hassle to get their.

When I pulled into the driveway I saw Sage sitting at the edge of the garage wall trying not to cry, trying not to show her emotions.

"Sage?" "Are you okay?" when she noticed who it was she quickly wiped away a single tear that managed to fall and gave me a fake smile and hug "I'm great" "you know you can tell me anything right? Your practically my sister" I said sincerely concerned. "I'll tell you later"

I just nodded while helping her up and walking her inside.

After about an hour of me and my mom coming up with the perfect day for her I decided to leave, but before I did I wanted to know what was wrong with Sage.

Sages POV

Dear, diary

The last couple weeks have been rough, depressing, everyday I see happy families

Kids with their Dads and Moms, hugging each other enjoying each others presence.

But me? No. My mom was dead, my dad hated me and I was now living with the only people in my life that actually care. All a girl wants is to be loved, hugged and appreciated by her father, but I didn't have that, not anymore anyways.

I closed my journal and threw it off from the diving board to the concrete next to the pool.

I closed my eyes trying to forget everything that hurt, but right afterwards I heard the slide door open and close when I opened I saw shane coming over, he crouched down beside me asking me why I was so hurt.

I sighed "I was upset because I'm surrounded by happy families, fathers that love their daughters who hug them and don't make them bleed."

"Sage.. Your not alone in this world, I had a awful father too, I know what your going through I use to want a happy family too but you know what if I did I wouldn't be what I'm doing now"

What he said hit me. Everything happens for a reason, the good and the bad.

"Thanks for being here for me" "No problem kid"

I smiled and gave him a long hug, he kissed my forehead and left.

June 12th, 12:34

Shane's POV

LISAAAAAA WHERE GOING TO BE LATE! I said looking at my watch, then questioning my self since I didn't have a watch. "Sorry I'm coming I'm coming!"

"Your late, but beautiful" I said quickly kissing her and pulling her arm out the door and towards the car.

"Okay so we need to be at baileys in 30 minutes, I called her earlier and she said everything was perfect"

"Isn't it weird that part of her party is at the same place where the last party we went to was ruined"

"Don't worry kailey's not bringing Brian this time." I smirked.

When we arrived at the soon to be party for sage I had to make sure it was perfect and that everyone was there. And it was. At least I thought so.

Baileys POV

The party for Sage was perfect, I was just glad Shane had asked me to do it, I'm always nervous to talk to him, because he's pretty much famous.

I had asked O2l to come even though me and Trevor had broken up, he said things were to complicated, and he needed a break. To be honest I was glad the love for me had dialed down and I knew being friends would be better, besides me and Matthew are great together and I feel something for him I never did with Trevor.

I told sage to come over so we could hang out before her birthday dinner so she should be here in a few minutes, me knowing so since she literally just text me saying "hey I'm almost there."

I heard Shawn pull up with Kailey, and that meant Sage was here, we all hid under the tables peeking through to see when she comes.

"SURPRISE!!!!!!" We yelled as she walked to the backyard. She saw Shane and lisa and immediately ran over to hug them crying tears of joy. "Omg thank you... So much" she said to all of us.

Kailey and Shawn were behind Sage hand in hand not paying attention to anything, they were in a trance only caring about each other.. "Kailey! You actually fooled me!" Sage said interrupting them. "Of course I did" she smiled "happy birthday" "thanks" she said walking towards me.

"So how's you and Trevor?" "We're fine, were happy with being friends, besides me and Matthew are happy". "We'll good for you" "And good for you! Didn't know about you and Sam" I smirked as she blushed. "Yeah well it's only been two weeks" she said has she walked away moving towards the lucky guy himself.

Shane's POV

Today was going great, she looked like she was having fun, me and lisa were both having fun, it was always a pleasure to make lisa laugh so hard she cried, it was the best part of any day of mine.

Sages party lasted until five o'clock, because that's what time our reservations were, we were eating at the Cheesecake Factory, Sages favorite, that part wasn't a surprise she knew about that, you could tell how excited she was for the cheesecake.

It was just Sage, Sam, Lisa, Me, My mom, Jarred,Bailey, Matthew,Kailey and Shawn. All we needed.

It was going great until I got two calls, One was from Lauren telling me how much she hated dogs and that she didn't want Vanessa anymore, which was fine since I knew Sage wanted one so that would just be an extra gift, but the second call wasn't a gift she wanted.

I had gotten a call to be a director in a movie, a movie that would change my life making all my dreams come true, but it also meant leaving at the worst time possible, because the movie was in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, I'd have to leave Lisa and Sage for five months.

I wasn't sure how to tell them I was leaving In two days, so I decided to just go for it, and get it over with.

"Lisa...Sage... I have some news."
