His body heat encompassed me and I froze, unable to decipher his actions.
His lips were warm and soft and sent electrical signals down my back.
I felt giddy and could stay like this forever, until he pulled away.
My eyes were wide open and I stared at him, his eyes looking dazed.
“God, I have wanted to do that for since a long time.” His voice was husky and we were so close that I could count all the faint freckles around his nose that I didn’t even know existed.
Then, I punched him.
“Ow! You promised not to punch!” he held his stomach and grimaced, sitting up.
“I never did. And what made you do that?” I yelled at him, still unable to recover from the kiss.
“Don’t you get it? I like you Angela, a lot. And I have for a very long time.” He said earnestly and inside, I felt tiny bubbles burst, leaving me dizzy.
“Then why didn’t you tell me before?”
“How could I, when you were head over heels for Zach!”
“You’re a jerk.” I whispered. My lips were tingling from the kiss.
His eyes grew wide.
“How could you do this to me when you are dating someone else?”
“Hey,” he said soothingly, “I don’t like Wendy. Besides, I’m breaking up with her first thing tomorrow.”
“I don’t know, Jake I think I like you too. But I would have felt better if you were single. I imagine Wendy finding out you cheated on her. I mean, it would break her heart. What if I were Wendy?” I cried.
“I would never ever do that to you. Besides, I caught Wendy making out with someone two weeks ago and she said it would never happen again. Then, three days later someone told me that she was hitting on a sophomore. That was the last straw.” He took a breath and gazed into my eyes.
I felt warm from the inside.
“Do you like me too?” he asked me, smiling a bit.
I put a hand to my forehead and smiled.
“Yes.” I murmured. He beamed and kissed me again, this time lightly but still leaving the same kind of effect on me.
He then got up and brushed off some of the popcorn from his jeans.
“I’m gonna see you tomorrow. Be surprised.” And he walked out of the house, leaving me glowing.
After about two seconds, I started having these weird thoughts inside my head.
Be surprised?
What did he mean?
Was he going to ask me out?
Urgh, this was irritating!
Not knowing what to do I made a conference call to Ashley, Lucy, Tanya and May.
“You’re not going to believe this guys, Jake totally kissed me!” I screamed into the phone and heard two of them fangirling.
“Ohmygosh how was it?”
“I knew this would happen sometime!”
“You lucky girl!”
I laughed.
“Let’s meet at my house. I wanna know all the details.” Lucy said and we agreed.
Half an hour later we were all sitting in a circle on Lucy’s bed and giggling.
“You should totally date him!” Ashley said, grinning.
“Yeah! Then, You and Jake, Zach and I can double date!” Tanya piped.
I grinned at them as they continued talking.
“Hold on, I have to show you guys something.” Lucy said, and ran to get her laptop.
Her laptop was full of stickers but one caught my eye.
A camera lens with and L on it.
I tried to remember where I had seen it before.
I probably saw it somewhere and forgot about it, wanting to see what Lucy wanted to show us.
“My uncle said that he was gifting me a new camera instead of my salary and you guys should check it out. Here are the pictures.”
She showed us the pictures of this really professional looking camera and began blabbering about all the ‘awesome’ features it had.
Suddenly, I remembered.
The logo.
At the back of the picture.
Of Jake and I at Starbucks.
Different things rushed into my mind all at once.
The person who had clicked the picture was…. Lucy?
