“Get up sleepyhead!” Someone sang into my ears. Urgh, why couldn’t this annoying person let me sleep? It was a Saturday for God’s sake!
Then someone sat on me.
Ow! That person was heavy.
“Get up!” Troy jumped up and down on me.
I grumbled and covered my face using a pillow, then showed him the middle finger.
The bed stood still for a while and I was glad he was gone.
I never thought he would be gone this fast.
Oh, how wrong I was, I thought, as my blanket was pulled from over me.
Brrr, it was cold. I crouched on the bed, hugging my pillow to conserve my body heat.
“Get lost, Troy. Let me sleep!” I shouted at him, opening my eyes a bit.
“I hate you.” He said and sat on my bed.
My eyes opened a bit more as I sat up on my bed.
If there was one thing my brother never told me, it was that he hated me.
What was wrong with him?
I stifled a yawn as he crossed his arms and looked at me crossly.
“You’re such a bad sister.”
“What did I do now?” I whined and drew closer to him, grabbing my covers from him and wrapping them around me.
“I’m leaving today.”
Then he got up and left the room.
Shit.
All my sleep was gone as I sat there wide-awake.
I hit myself on my head. How could I forget?
I ran into the shower, brushed my teeth vigorously while brushing out my hair simultaneously. Cold water hit me as all signs of sleepiness were washed away. I jogged into the closet and put on whatever came into my hands.
I reached the kitchen just in time to find my brother finishing his breakfast of pancakes. All his suitcases were on the floor.
“Oh you’re up early!” My dad exclaimed.
“Troy’s courtesy.” I smiled apologetically at Troy and he gave a tiny smile in return. I wolfed down the pancakes placed in front of me and immediately regretted it.
“Trooooooy!!” I screamed as I rushed towards the fridge and emptied down half a carton of cranberry juice.
He was on the floor; laughing and I ran to punch him.
Giving him a smack on the head, I looked at my mom to complain when I found her giggling to my utter disbelief.
“You too?” I stared at her dumbfounded. My very own mom had betrayed me by putting chilies in my pancakes, siding with the enemy.
My tongue was burning.
Troy was chuckling.
Mom was giggling.
Dad was smirking.
Juice was dripping from the carton.
And my friends told me Troy was such a charming brother.
I sat down again, now eating toast because I didn’t trust the pancakes.
Troy finished and got up, picking up a few bags and went out.
Dad too lifted some bags and went behind him.
I picked up the last bag, which was a small backpack and went out towards the garage.
