"For once the awkwardness at lunch wasn't because of me," Peter voiced as he and Eliza walked through the Avengers Tower. The two friends both had stacks of files that Silvia Haney gave them to work on; both students had finished early with their other jobs and with having nothing else to do, the woman quickly gave them paper work to keep them busy until the end of their work day.Eliza rolled her eyes as she shifted the pile into a more comfortable position. A sigh left her lips before she spoke, "I didn't think me defending Tony Stark would cause a rift between Jaz and me."
"You blew up on her out of no where, El," Peter reminded her. "It probably confused Jasmine."
"Well, I can't exactly just blurt out that I'm one of the now officially rumored Stark kid so she'll be less confused." Eliza walked ahead of Peter as they got closer to her own work area.
It has always been a small rumor within the news that Tony Stark might have children given the fact that he's seen as a playboy. But now, with some random guy's confession that he overheard Tony Stark talking about his own kids with his girlfriend, the small rumor that popped up once in a blue moon was now being talked about in magazines, newspapers, on the radio, and everywhere else. Speculations on whether he would be a good father or not has now become a main focus for some news anchors whenever the billionaire was brought up in conversation. Citizens were talking about it as well. Within the forty-five minutes between the college and work, Eliza heard at least three conversations about it.
Peter took the news of Eliza and Killian being the children of Tony Stark rather well, surprisingly. After he, of course, got over the shock of it all. He treated the two twins as he had been – two normal nineteen year olds trying to find their way in the world while simultaneously secretly fighting crime. Eliza knew that the news would never calm down if she fessed up to be a Stark with Killian. But she wanted to, so she could prove the people who thought Tony was unfit to be a parent wrong. She had mixed emotions about it.
She steadily held the pile of paper work in one hand as she opened the door with the other, and motioned with her head for Peter to go ahead and walk in before her. Peter quickly went into the room and set the stack of papers he had on the desk, as did Eliza once she entered the room and closed the door behind her. She let her hands go flat not he brown wooden surface of the desk, her arms held her up as she put some of her weight down. Her head hung low and Peter, who stood barely a foot away, frowned at the girl. It was clear the sudden rumors surrounding the Stark name gave her unneeded stress.
"Jasmine won't take the news as easily as you did, Peter," Eliza said after some time. "Neither will Josh. We've been friends since middle school. They'll be hurt that I told you before them, no offense."
"None taken," Peter said. "It makes sense."
Eliza bit the inside of her cheek, a growing habit she noticed, and stood up straight to look at her new found friend. "I feel like if I tell them about Tony being my dad, then I have to tell them about me being Vixen and everything that's happened," she admitted. "And I can't do that."
