The next few days for Eliza consisted of trying to deny the fact that her feelings for a certain wall-crawler were growing, and ignoring her worsening anxiety and insomnia. Killian finally tried to speak to her about, deciding he had given her enough space, and it only ended the same way it did with Felicity and Peter - Eliza becoming defensive and a fight brewing between the two slowly but surely. And a fight did happen between the twins one night. Tony was out for the day with James Rhodes and the Black Widow, the three having to do some mission together, and Pepper was busy in her office at Stark Industries.By the time Pepper got home, she found Killian standing outside in the rain (he had been shoved out and locked out by his dear sister) and Eliza in her room buried in spell books and school study guides. The rest of the night and the next day were tense. Rather uncomfortable as well. The tension only disappeared when Killian and Eliza went out as Jinx and Vixen together, both needed to let off steam, so why not do it on the bad guys?
It was finally the night of the charity dance Tony Stark was throwing. (Which ended up being a scheme to the media, because with all of the families and their kids attending it, the news reporters that regularly show up at any Stark event will be unable to pinpoint who exactly was the offspring of Tony Stark). Everyone was getting ready in the Stark household, including Felicity and Silvia. Eliza stood in her bathroom, making sure her hair was had enough bobby pins in it and that her earrings wouldn't fall off randomly. Felicity was beside her applying the last bit of make-up, humming along to the music playing on her phone. Killian was in his own room. He was jamming out to his favorite songs while trying to figure how to tie a tie properly. Silvia was with Pepper and Tony. The three adults were in the kitchen as they waited for the teenagers to finish up, sipping on some wine.
Eliza chewed on the inside of her cheek as she checked her make-up in the mirror. She debated in her head on whether or not she should tell Felicity her new found growing feelings towards Peter Parker; but she had no idea how the girl would react. The brunette puffed out her cheeks, finally deciding to just wait another day - or never telling Felicity at all. Eliza smiled at her reflection. She liked the outcome, surprisingly, and mentally patted her back. She glanced at Felicity to see that she was ready as well, and the two girls left the bathroom and grabbed their phones and clutch purses from Eliza's room.
"Oh, good, you're ready before you need to leave!" Tony said happily at seeing his daughter. "Wait there, I need to give you something," he quickly ordered as he left the kitchen.
Eliza raised an eyebrow in question and looked at the two women before her. They simply shrugged before she could even ask, none of them having a clue as to what her father could be giving her tonight. She then shrugged as well, reaching out for the glass Tony had left, but her hand was instantly swatted away by Silvia and got a disapproving look from Pepper. Felicity simply laughed.
"Ellie, come here."
Eliza turned her head and saw Tony standing near the kitchen entrance away from everyone. She frowned slightly, and noticed that his hands were behind his back and the somber look on his face. "Uh, Dad?" She questioned, "Everything okay?"
