Chapter 13: The perks of being a werewolf.

***

Recap:

I looked back at the guards and then at the river.

And.

Then.

I.

Jumped.

“SHIT!” I heard one of them men scream.

And that’s the last thing I heard before I plunged into the icy cold river.

***

The minute I went under the surface of the river I found myself swimming back up.

Can’t breathe; Jesus its freezing. I broke the surface and gasped for air before I was swimming to the side of the river so I could grab on to some plants to hoist myself back onto the surface. I butterfly stroked over to the side of the river and grabbed on to the root of a tree. I clung onto it for dear life and started hacking up the water that made its way into my lungs.

I pulled myself up onto the ground and rested there for a minute enjoying the peaceful non-moving ground that I was lying down on, only to have the silence broken by, “Stupid bitch what did you think was going to happen. The currents way to damn strong.”

I looked up to see the man with the gun from earlier. He had mild perspiration laced on his forehead from having to run down here to get to me before I got away. That means that if I don’t take a moment to have some self-pity of having to jump into a freezing cold river. I probably would of gotten away.

God damn it!

I looked up in time to three other guards with guns and two of them with dogs join him. How lovely.

“You can go with us willingly or we can have the dog drag you back,” one of the men said cruelly.

I got up slowly from lying down on my stomach and looked back at the river. No way in hell I would have a better chance at surviving a bullet. I got up and one of the men out silver cuffs on me. I sucked in air at the pain from where the cuff touched my skin.

Yes everyone please picture this: A young girl in white clothes that are clinging to her body from freezing cold water, with hair hanging in tangles around her face, shivering, walking- no- tramping through a forest, with four men and two dogs behind her ready to act if she dared walk to fast, and her hands are burning from silver cuffs that she’s wearing.

Can you picture it?

I think not. This is some serious bullshit. I mean COME ON! Out of billions of people to pick from Fate chooses ME to be the werewolf of the millennia. Seriously Fate? You’re cruel.

I tramped back to the compound not really having a choice because I wanted to keep all of my body parts, thank you, and arrive in time to see the one and only, Adam Dell’Antonio walk out.

Huuuh, figures. Fate is a bitch.

“Nice to see you back so soon,” Dell’Antonio said smiling but looking like he was about to kill me.

I rolled my eyes.

“Get her back in B230 Foster isn’t done yet. Someone stay inside at all times. If she escapes I will hold all of you personally responsible,” Dell’Antonio said then he raised his eyebrows, “Understood?”

There were a lot of low ‘Yes Sirs,’ and then we went back inside the retched building.

They lead me down the elevator back to Level B. And then took me back to Dr. Foster’s room. She looked at from the table she was sitting in and took in my cold, wet, and shivering experience.
