Asriel woke up the next morning, earlier than he was used to.
He actually felt well rested, but he noticed the tight grasp of his newfound companion around his waist.Looking to behind him, he saw Chara, but they didn't have the paper towel on their forehead, and the cut was gone.
That's great news!Asriel decided to let his friend sleep, even if that meant he had to stay still for a bit.
That was, however, until he heard a low rumble coming from behind him.
At first, he thought Chara growled at him, and he was about to giggle, before looked back to see they were still asleep.
The noise was followed by a low gurgle, and Chara curled up a bit and wore an expression twisted in pain.Oh. They're hungry.
Asriel frowned, sitting up.
Chara groaned, and blinked awake as Asriel left their grasp."Oh! Good morning, Chara." Asriel smiled.
Chara seemed a bit confused.
Honestly, they expected to be back in their pitch black, small room. Back at home, with their little blanket and dirty books.
They were silent, before murmuring a 'good morning' in return, though it was almost inaudible. Chara seemed a bit nervous.Asriel grinned, looking to Chara,
"Well, I was going to go get breakfast, if you want to come." He offered.
That wasn't really the plan, but he figured that Chara would like to have company while eating.Chara was silent.
That actually sounded really nice.
They put a hand on their stomach, which almost immediately growled in response, as they felt a sharp pain grow in their stomach, before nodding,
"Yes, please." They murmured.Asriel grinned, and helped Chara out of the bed,
"Cool! Come on!" He said, rushing them out of bed and down the hall.He got to be with his best friend all night and in the morning! That's the most fun he's had in awhile.
Chara didn't mind being lead around by the enthusiastic boy. He seemed nice, very nice.
However, he seemed very innocent, to a sense.
Naive might be a better word. It seemed that Toriel shelters him from most things in the world, and Chara didn't quite agree that this was a good thing to do.
However, now, Asriel was a gentle boy. A great friend. Probably so sweet it was sickening.
Chara admired him.Asriel walked into the kitchen. Chara took a mental note that their blade was moved, as Asriel opened the fridge and pulled out a plate, covered with foil.
"Mom made pie for everyone in the underground, and we still had some left over. It's pretty good!" Asriel smiledChara walked over to besides Asriel,
"Shouldn't we ask? Will we get in trouble?" They asked, worried. Chara didn't know how things worked in their house."Nah, It'll be fine. I get myself breakfast all the time, and we are always welcome to left overs!" Asriel explained.
Chara frowned, but didn't argue.
"Alright," they said, as Asriel took out a fork and a butter knife, and opened the container. Actually, there was a lot of food left. Chara took a moment to gaze under the foil, and looked at the cold pie.
It had a very savory scent to it, unlike most pie, it definitely wasn't sweet.
The inside was a murky brownish green.Asriel put one slice on his plate, and another slice on the one he got out for Chara.
He then put a fork on each plate and passed the plate to Chara,
"Here!" He smiled.Chara looked at it for a moment, and pressed their fork to the top of it, in which a bit of filling spilled out.
However, it smelled great. Savory.Asriel was already eating it, moving over to the dining room table.
Chara decided to mock his actions, and followed, sitting beside him.Chara tried the pie —
Quite like they expected, it was savory, with a bit of a salted taste. However, the filling was a bit rubbery and the overall taste was chalky. It was a bit hard to swallow.
