It's been a few weeks since the girls cuddle session and today Margaret is getting her cast off. Gemma is patiently waiting in their hospital room doodling random things while Margaret is with another nurse and doctor getting her cast removed. Gemma jumped in her seat a little when a nurse walked into her room.
"There's someone who would like to see you." the nurse said. Gemma was confused cause she doesn't remember knowing anyone prier to being here. Gemma follows the nurse out of the room and down towards the visiting area. Gemma immediately remembered who it was that was sitting down in a chair waiting for her.
"William?" Gemma asks. The man looks at Gemma and nods.
"Long time no see Gemma." William motions for her to sit down with him.
"Margaret will be ready in a little bit." The nurse says walking off and leaves through an new set of doors. William looks at Gemma and begins to speak.
"There are a few things I would like to discuss with you two." He says. Gemma gives him a questioning look.
"And what would that be?" She asks. William fidgets in his seat and folds his hands together making eye contact with Gemma.
"I would like to adopt you and Margaret." William goes serious and Gemma just sits there. She starts to laugh and William gives her a strange look.
"What? Why are laughing?" William questions. Gemma sits up straight.
"You're joking right?" She asks regaining her composure from laughing. William shakes his head.
"Nope. I would like to gain full custody of you two." He says. Gemma's eyes widen and she jumps out of her seat doing a happy dance. She then realizes that she's causing a scene and sits back down
"After almost seventeen long years I've been stuck in that orphanage. I'll finally have a place to call home." Gemma smiles.
After a few more minutes of William and Gemma talking about the whole adoption thing Margaret walks through a set of doors in a pair of clean clothes. Gemma's eyes widen as she looks at her friend. Gemma stands up and runs to Margaret. She wraps her arms around Margaret engulfing her in a hug. Margaret slowly wraps her arms Gemma completing the hug. Gemma looks at Margaret pulling away from the hug. It was nice to finally see her friend out of a wheel chair. Her eyes start to water, but Gemma is still smiles.
"What's gotten into you?" Margaret asks chuckling slightly looking Gemma. Gemma motions over to the table her and William were sitting at.
"Look for yourself." Margaret looks over at the table where William is sat and he waves them over. Margaret's eyes widened.
"William?" Margaret asks unsure if that was actually his name. William smiles and nods while the two girls sit down.
"Margaret I have something I'd like to tell you, Gemma seemed very okay with this already." He says and Gemma nods happily.
"Well.. what is it?" Margaret asks giving him a look that says, "Go on."
"I would like to adopt you and Gemma, give you two a place to stay, a place to call home." William speaks and awaits an answer from Margaret. She's quiet. Margaret looks at William dead in the eye.
"you're being serious right?" She asks. William nods and Margaret's face lights up and she smiles wide looking over at Gemma.
"We're finally gonna have a place to call home!" She says happily.
"Now I just have to fill out adoption papers. The hospital provides them, just give me a few to talk with a nurse or secretary and then I'll need time to fill out the paper work." William smiles walking over to a desk where a lady is sat.
Gemma and Margaret keep smiling at each other. Margaret looks Gemma in the eyes and says to her.
"the day has finally come."
\\ Time Skip about an hour and a half //
William walks back over to the table where the girls are sitting and shows them the newly filled out and nearly completed adoption papers.
"I just need you two to sign right there saying that you're okay with being adopted by me." William says. The girls nod and sign there name.
"Alright. Are you two ready to go home?" William says smiling and placing a hand on each of their shoulders. Margaret nods vigorously and Gemma smiles a toothy and happy smile.
The three of them get into a pick up truck, it was kind of rusted and falling apart but it was welcoming all the same. The two girls looked back at the hospital, they didn't have anything they brought with them mainly because they didn't have anything other than the dirty clothes they entered the hospital in. They took one last good look at the hospital and looked forward again.
"It's gonna be a little ways before we arrive at the house so if you two wanna take a nap that's fine by me." William says still keeping his eyes on the road. Margaret took full advantage of that and rested her back on the seat.
{Gemma's POV}
I look over at Margaret and see that her head is leaning against the back of the seat and her neck is all weird. I really don't see how that's comfortable but she's already sound asleep. I keep looking out the window seeing things pass by. The hospital was on the outskirts of the big city, so was the orphanage and Williams bar. I wonder if his house is closer to the or not.
Soon enough after a half hour or so we pass by a few different neighborhoods and I can't help but think that Williams home must be close by. We eventually pass by a park surrounded by trees and a garden near by. I sigh and let my hot breath fog the window a little. That park could be a hangout place for Margaret and I.
After another twenty - fifteen minutes go by William starts to pull into a driveway of a fairly decent sized house. It looks so cozy and so big for just one person. Does or did William have a spouse? Anyways... William parked the truck in his driveway and unlocked the car doors. I look over at Margaret and see that she's still sleeping so I gently shake her. Nothing. I slap her face and what do you? She's awake.
"What the hell was that for?" She grumbles sitting up and rubbing her neck. I just laugh and get out of the truck following William to the front door. Margaret finally catches on and gets out as well jogging to catch up. William unlocks the door and opens it.
"Welcome to your new home."
