Margaret and Gemma woke up at 7:05 am like any other morning. Gemma was the type of girl who didn't care what her appearance was to other people. She had shoulder length dark brown hair, blue eyes with small green specks in them, freckles all around her petite nose and doe eyes, peach lips, and a great smile that only Margaret can seem to set free. Margaret is Gemma's best friend, and only friend in the orphanage. She on the other hand (She being Margaret) does care about what people think about her so she tends to try a little harder with her appearance. Margaret has waste length light blonde hair with sun kissed natural high lights, she has big beautiful eyes the color of the sky and a bit of the ocean's deepest blues, light pink lips, and rosy cheeks."Margaret stop looking at yourself in that mirror come on, we're gonna be late for breakfast." Gemma told her friend who kept adjusting her shirt. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming." Margaret said while pushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. The two girls walked out of there shared room and down to the dining hall where all the other orphans were sitting. Some of the orphans gave them dirty looks and others just ignored them continuing to eat whatever they were given. "Looks like we're having bland oatmeal again." Gemma mumbled to Margaret. "Gross, I hate this stuff." She mumbled back. The two then find open seats and take them starting to eat there oatmeal.
Just across the table were a few kids plotting something against the two friends. The kids being, Jacob, Samantha, Christy, and Alex. None of them have ever liked Gemma and Margaret so they just had small feuds here and there, a never ending battle so to speak... and now they're plotting there worst one yet. "How are we gonna lure them into the attic?" Alex asked his fellow friends. Alex was a boy with light brown hair and small freckles here and there, he's always had small feelings for Margaret but is never able to display them because of his friends... and his girlfriend Samantha. "We'll just tell them we finally wanna call truce and that we have a gift in the attic for them. We've left loads of water and bread up there, they should stay alive for a month at least." Samantha says chuckling slightly. Samantha had short black hair with bangs that covered her right eye, her eyes being a dark green always glowing with envy and trouble. "So when are we going to bring them up there?" Jacob asks. He has Dark shaggy hair that's always covering his eyes, always have to move it out of the way from his bright emerald green eyes. "I'm guessing after dinner so they get at least one last good meal in." Christy answers picking at her nails not making eye contact. She has Strawberry blonde hair that's always in a side braid, and her chocolate brown eyes always filled with hope that she'll someday get out of this dump and into a good family. "Then it's settled, it's time to finally get rid of those pesky brats." Samantha said standing up and walking to her room with Christy following right behind, and the other two boys going to sit in the living area.
Gemma looks over at Margaret and sees that she's not eating her oatmeal. "What's wrong?" She asks, no reply. "Margaret?" Gemma asks again. Still no answer. "Margaret answer me goddammit." She pushes. Margaret slowly looks at Gemma. "Do you ever think we're gonna get outta here?" she asks Gemma. "In all honesty, I have no idea. But all we can do is just hope." Gemma replies. "I wanna go back to our room." Margaret says quietly. Gemma just nods and stands up grabbing Margaret's hand and leading her to there room.
It was later in the day now and Gemma was reading a type of comic book while Margaret was painting her nails. "Do you ever wish that you could have powers? We could just bust out of this place and kick peoples butts!" Gemma said excitedly. Margaret just laughs lightly. "I've never imagined myself having powers.. but yeah, that seems pretty awesome." she says finishing off her last nail and starts to blow on them so they dry faster. "Just think about it. We'd be the unstoppable duo, the incredible pair, the-" "Slow your role Gem, the only way we could ever have any sort of 'powers' are if we get into a freak accident like Barry Allen, or get bitten by a poisoness spider, or if we came from another planet... like Krypton." Margaret states. "But that's only in the movies." She adds. Gemma laughs. "I didn't know you knew so much about super heroes." "I might, kinda, maybe steal your comics from time to time." Margaret blushes from embarrassment. "That's cool with me." Gemma smirks. "I would have never guessed that you of all people would like comics." "I get bored, and I like to read." "Oh I know." Gemma says and the two start to laugh.
>Time skip to dinner time<
Margaret and Gemma started heading down to the dining hall. "What do you think dinners gonna be?" Margaret asks. "I hear it's grilled cheese.. but not the good kind, with the water like tomato soup." Gemma answers. For once the two girls are early and find two open seats and take them. Everyone else starts to fill the seats of the dining hall and grab there food. Margaret and Gemma have eaten most of there food, the girls are just great full they actually have some descent food in there stomachs and they don't starve. Once the orphans are dismissed to do whatever the two girl go into the living area and play a game of Uno, one of the only games that they have."Hey girls." Samantha says with a false happy attitude. "What do you want?" Gemma sighs not really in the mood for an argument. "Oh don't be that way. We wanna call truce." Jacob says. "Yeah right." Margaret replies. "We're not joking, we even have a gift for you!" Christy says happily, she's a good actress. "It's in the attic, you'll just have to follow us." Alex adds. Margaret looks at Alex trying to see if he's lying, or if this is all just a trick. "You're not lying right?" Margaret keeps looking Alex in the eye to the point where he has to look away. "Nope." Samantha says. "Just follow us." And the two girls do. Margaret and Gemma follow the other kids. They lead them up the stairs towards the attic. "The gift is in the attic?" Gemma asks suspicious. "Yeah, It's kinda heavy otherwise we would have brought it down." Jacob says as a cover up. "oh okay." Gemma says still hesitant. 'God they're so stupid.' Samantha tells herself. They start to near the attic door, Jacob and Alex pull down the door/ladder thing and tell them to climb up. "Are you guys coming up?" Margaret asks. "Yeah, we'll be up in a sec." Christy says smiling. The two friends make there way up the ladder and stand by some warn out and discarded boxes. "Shut the door!" Samantha whisper yells. Jacob and Alex quickly fold up the stairs to the attic and lock it from the outside so they can't get out. "Hey guys what's the meaning of this!" Gemma yells through the attic. "It's nothing personal sweetheart!" Christy yells up to them. 'God I hate the whole idea of this' Alex thinks to himself. "Alright lets go before we get caught up here." Jacob says to his fellow mates. "Agreed." Says Christy. The four of them walk back down stairs like nothing happened.
Gemma leans against a dusty tall piece of wood. "And just when I thought they were actually gonna be nice to us." She mumbled. "I can't believe them." Margaret says walking around. "At least they didn't leave us without food." Gemma says trying to cheer up her friend. "Besides they can't leave us in here, they'll come back up for us... I hope" Gemma adds quietly speaking the last part. "And if they don't?" Margaret asks. "Then we'll find out."
