"Elizabeth Allen? Her best friend?" asked Joan's mother.
"Yes," Miss Best, the joint head, replied.
"Fine. I'll come over." Mrs Townsend packed a few pieces and set off.
"Mother?" Joan exclaimed.
"Hello, dear."
"Wha... why... ho...?"
She smiled," I've come to see you."
"I don't want you to see me. Go away."
"Joan, there is no reason to be like that."
"Shut up," she snapped, before hitting her mother hard. She walked off.
'Ouch!' her mother thought, before looking at her arm and crying in pain.
