Chapter 9

The day passed slowly and soon enough I was sitting with none other than Taylor at my house. I smiled at his back as he sat on my basement floor trying to pick a movie we could both agree on.

"This one!" he exclaimed holding up one of my brother's horror movies.

"No!" I almost shrieked. "I don't do scary movies."

"Oh come on! I love them, how can you not?" he said standing up with the movie still in his hands.

"They're scary, I'm not good with scary! Please get back down there and put that away. I'm not watching it!" I exclaimed standing up on the futon.

"I'll be here, no need to worry," he winked. It was cheesy and it made me rolled my eyes but that didn't stop the smile from creeping onto my face.

"No way," I shook my head.

"Too bad, sit," he commanded.

"It's my house!"

"Kaya, sit!"

"Not unless you go back and pick another movie!"

"No, we are watching it! Suck it up, I'll be here don't worry," he said as he popped the DVD into the player that sat on the shelf above the movies.

"Taylor, no please," I pleaded really scared now. I wasn't above running upstairs and shutting the door.

"Just sit with me, it's not that bad," he sighed pulling me down next to him as he sat on the futon in Nick's normal spot.

"No," I refused while trying to make a getaway but his arms slipped around my waist and I felt my heart beat as if it was going to jump out of my chest. I gave up my resistance as he pulled me back and I leaned my head on his shoulder as one of his arms was kept around my waist. This was... friendly? Wasn't it?

I didn't know what I felt but I knew that I liked it here with him... in his arms. The movie started without further delay and started like a normal movie, but turned creepy the next second.

"I don't like this, I don't like this," I repeated cringing against Taylor and burying my face in his chest.

"Shh, calm down," he murmured. "Nothing has even happened yet."

"It's going to. It's going to be bad, I can feel it!" I said as he wrapped his arms around me, in a friendly gesture I was sure.

He chuckled and I looked up at him incredulously. He looked down and smiled at me, "You're freaking yourself out before anything even happens. Relax."

"Can we please shut it off," I begged.

"No, you are going to watch it and you're gonna see it's not that bad, I'm here nothing's going to hurt you. I'm the only thing here and I swear I would never hurt you," he reassured me.

I nodded and looked back at the movie trying not to get too scared at what happened on screen. He tightened his arm around me to reinforce his words. Soon enough I was relaxed and felt protected in his arms that the movie didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. It also helped that Taylor had seen it before - every time something scary or bad was going to happen he would prepare me so I could decide if I wanted to hide or tough through it. There was little blood and gore in the movie so for that I was grateful as well.
