Some time later she awoke, her head pounding. Bonnie was still silent to the world, just as she had left him. She sighed heavily and slid off his chest and stood up to stretch. She had no idea what time it was anymore, or where Jake and Jeffrey had gotten to, but she found that she wasn't too concerned.
She was still a little salty about the door to the security guard office slamming down on her the other night. If that was them, she was going to let them have a piece of her mind!
She glanced around the room and tried to listen for the sounds of children playing but didn't hear anything. So either it was Sunday... or late at night... or early morning. She exhaled loudly and ran a hand through her hair. This stress was going to kill her one of these days! She looked down at Bonnie and frowned. She had let herself believe that he would shake off the dust of the floor and come alive before her, maybe draw her into a hug and give her a big goofy smile or two. But that wasn't the reality of the situation, and she knew she had to accept that.
She decided that, after she took care of her basic needs, she was going to figure things out for herself. She dashed to the door and peeked out. She was greeted by a cold and familiar quiet of a night-time pizzeria. Shadows had already begun to gather around the halls and the light that was still present was dimming fast. She smiled, feeling a bit more at ease.
She ducked out and crept softly down the hall. Luckily for her, the bathroom door was unlocked and she slid inside without any confrontation. After taking care of her bathroom needs and washing her hands in the sink, she sneaked back to the store room.
She rummaged around and found some staff uniforms and an apron used by the bakers in the kitchen, and donned the clothes to replace her old ones, which had been torn in the shuffle the night before. After pulling her hair up in a ponytail she finally felt better about herself and like she could finally focus on the task at hand.
She knelt down beside Bonnie and put her hand on the top of his head and smiled down at him .
"It's ok if you need time to wake up, I understand." She said as she patted his head, "I just wish I could know if you can hear me..."
She jumped a little when the door knob began to turn, thinking that the noise was Bonnie for a split second. She jumped up but didn't have time to do anything else before the door swung open.
She let out the breath she had been holding. It was Jake and Jeffrey. They ran in, shutting the door behind them. Both looked pretty out of breath and pale as can be. She rushed over to them.
"What's wrong?" She inquired nervously. She didn't forget her anger, but it was hard to draw on it when they looked so shaken. They both looked at her with a mixture of relief and fear, then they both reached out and encased her in an awkward group hug.
"We thought you were dead! Do you know how long we've been looking for you?" Jake asked, more concerned than anything.
"Oh..." she mumbled, her anger melting.
Jeffrey chimed in, "It's been hell these last 24 hours, we gotta get out of here!"
She told them all about Puppet and what had happened to her and they filled her in as well. It turned out that, as she was being taken away and thrown beneath the stage, Chica had shown up while they were out trying to catch Balloon boy. They all took a moment to agree that he had been a distraction, setup to separate them.
She had attacked them, and they had been forced to run- even though they had heard her scream. Chica had chased them in the opposite direction. They had escaped her, they said, by hiding in the giant pizza ovens in the kitchen, but had been trapped there for hours. Not surprising- ovens aren't designed to open from the inside. She was kind of terrified for them, she couldn't imagine the fear that they had felt during their entrapment in the ovens.
