It was a bad day

It was a bad day. It had been a bad day. Staying a grand total of three weeks in the Avengers Tower had proved to be a combination of boring and aptly comfortable. There was still no word from Katherine, an absence which Elizabeth was becoming increasingly anxious about, and she'd found herself being frequented by gory nightmares. The cell, which she was confined to when not under supervision, however, had begun to steadily become more to her taste. Tony Stark was constantly adding furniture, potted plants and had even altered a pair of speakers to answer to her voice, much like Jarvis on a smaller scale, so she couldn't comfortably never be truly alone. The thought was sweet. Being raised with nothing meant that Elizabeth was grateful. Incredibly so. In return, the girl made sure to be kind (watching her tongue and being extra careful of her words) and even spent a few afternoons sat in the billionaire's lab. It had taken a lot of convincing on her part to bargain her way down with access to the passcodes but, after proving to be good company, had been given the key code to allow herself in whenever allowed out. The pair weren't particularly friends. No, they most definitely weren't. They tolerated each other. Or at least, that was what they told themselves.

It had been three weeks since the strange blonde man had barged into her 'room', and she hadn't seen or heard anything of him since. Tony had quickly entered after and bustled him out before he could even utter another word to Elizabeth. It was strange. Elizabeth had asked Clint about him only to be met by vague answers. Elizabeth had asked Tony about him only to be met by condescending remarks on her new so called crush. Elizabeth had even gone to the lengths of asking Natasha about him, but she'd only gazed down at her as though trying to figure out everything about her. It was unnerving and, in the end, the girl gave up. Sure, her heart seemed to constantly ache since the man had left, the faint tugs still left as remnants in her arteries, but there was little that could be done.

Yet, even the awful tugs in her heart weren't causing her bad day.

No, actually, it was the fuckin-

❝Are they comfortable?❞

Looking up at the super solider in front of her, Elizabeth shrugs. Of course, they weren't bloody comfortable. Somehow, Tony had managed to successfully form a pair of magic suppressing cuffs that were carefully made to fit Elizabeth perfect. In all aspects, they were made for comfort. Looking like nothing more than two steel bracelets on her wrists, Stark had spent a few nights laboriously designing them not to irritate the skin of Elizabeth's wrists and he'd even gone as far as placing a thin layer of extortionately expensive fabric on the inner compound to stop the hairs on her arms from tugging on the metal. It was a thoughtful gift but, unfortunately, Tony Stark was not a genius in the aspect of magic. He had a little understanding of it and, even after going to Thor who was only slightly better at it than himself, it was not suiting the girl well. The moment she had put them on two days previous, exhaustion began to increase inside of her. See, her magic was actually incredibly important for her body's natural equilibrium. Magic, in many ways, is a form of energy which Elizabeth's body is dependent on to work fluidly. Without it, her body had begun to show symptoms of a fever, headache, fatigue, low moods and general shitiness and it hadn't gone away like everyone had hoped it would.
