A sweet symphony of birds sang outside telling Katya that it was morning. Rolling over in bed she saw it was 10 o'clock.
The sun shone through the window pane and speckles of dust danced within the rays. She rubbed her eyes and noticed that Jacob wasn't there beside her but then the strong aroma of coffee drifted up the stairs and she smiled. As she slipped on her pink lace dressing gown she heard the clattering of plates and Jacob humming along to a song on the radio. She walked over to the window and took in the scenery outside, it was beautiful. The snow had melted completely, the grass around the small house was a lush green and the sea glittered an aquatic blue. She could see the small islands in the distance and on one something glistened in the sun.
"Baby, breakfast is ready!" Jacob called up to her.
She had to tear herself away from the stunning view and headed downstairs. The kitchen had a small dining area beside it and Jacob sat at the wooden table smiling.
"I cooked your favourite. And the orange juice doesn't have bits in."
In front of her was a typical English fry up. When they had visited England a couple of years ago she had a fry up for breakfast every morning for two weeks so it quickly became her favourite meal. She smiled back and thanked him.
"So this is the start of our new life right?" Jacob said with a mouthful of toast.
"Yes it is." She sipped the orange juice and looked around her.
This was the perfect life that she had always wanted and she couldn't believe that they had achieved this together. Although it came with consequences like leaving their old life behind and friends and family this was the start of their new adventure and hopefully family. They finished their breakfast and Katya washed up.
"I've gotta get ready to head into town. Harry rang me earlier and told me about a job available that I have experience in so I could be bringing in the money honey!"
Jacob squeezed Katya from behind and she couldn't help but laugh although she hated him calling her honey.
With Jacob gone Katya showered and got ready to go and explore the surrounding area of the house. It was quite cold outside so she threw on a thick black jumper, black jeans and black boots. All she seemed to wear was black but it complimented her pale skin and white hair beautifully.
As she stepped outside she breathed in the salty sea air. She had never lived this close to the water, she'd been brought up in the city where tall buildings and smog were all she ever knew. She could also smell the flowers around her. The little garden was full of them, lots of different types and some she didn't recognise. She would definitely have to hire a gardener for when her and Jacob were at work because she wouldn't be able to maintain it herself.
The grass cushioned her feet as she walked towards the shore. Unfortunately there was no sand, only pebbles on the beach but she didn't mind. If she wanted sand she knew that she could go on holiday for that.
She walked over to the boat house and took a look inside. It was fairly large and an old white boat sat in the centre. A strong smell of wood and petrol lingered in the air. The wooden flooring didn't look very secure so she took care as she walked across it. She had no idea how Jacob would fix this boat, he'd definitely need help from his friend Harry if he were to bring it back to life.
As she was about to leave she noticed a plank missing and a dark stain on the area around it. When she bent down to take a closer look she noticed it was a dark crimson colour but suddenly one of the planks from underneath her feet felt loose so she got up and went back outside.
The sunlight and fresh air welcomed her. She decided to explore further afield next. The boat house was to the right of the house whereas to the left was the outskirts to a forest. Nestled within was the house she had spotted yesterday.
It was a couple of minutes walk away and as she made her way closer she was sure she could smell the faint fragrance of candy which she thought was strange. There were definitely no sweetshops nearby.
She waved away the scent and was suddenly faced with a large wooden door. The house loomed above her and she suddenly felt very small. The walls were grey brick in colour and some windows were cracked and broken. The whole building looked incredibly old and tattered. She gripped the cold door handle and it opened up with a creak.
I will most likely upload a few chapters a week instead of only two.
I'm getting through this story much faster than I expected.
