Soon, the sea appeared on the horizon.

I gasped "Are we going to the beach?" I squealed.

Hayley smiled "We sure are!"

I clapped my hands wildly and looked out the car window at the blue sea and the rolling waves.

She parked on the edge of the parking lot and then we got out of the car.

I excitedly ran down the small hill to the sand and I ran through it all the way down to the sea.

I peeled off my trousers and jumped into the water in my t-shirt and underwear, making Hayley laugh.

I turned back to her and she was holding a backpack and a basket "Do you want something to eat first?" She shouted at me.

I nodded and ran back over to her and sat in the sand.

She laid out a tartan blanket and put some food out. Sandwiches and fruit and juice boxes and cakes. I couldn't believe she had done all this for me.

After sipping on an apple juice and eating a cheese sandwich and a small cake and Hayley eating some fruit and putting the rest away for , I dragged her down to the sea.

We splashed around in the water and ran up and down the shore before building a sandcastle in the wet sand. I was the queen of my castle and she was my faithful princess, always by my side.

We stayed at the beach until the sun set and the light, warm breeze turned chilly and then, Hayley drove me home.

"I had a great day Hayley" I mumbled. I was tired.

"I'm glad you did"

I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. When she stopped at the next red light, she kissed me properly until the cars behind us honked their horns for us to move, making us both laugh.

I didn't think about Melanie all day until my phone buzzed the minute I walked in the front door.

Hope you had a great day at the beach Ashley.

I shivered at the thought of Melanie watching us. She was so creepy.

I went to bed, feeling mostly happy but still irritated at Melanie invading our privacy.

I wish I had the courage to stand up to her properly.
