Jesy was sitting in her mother's lap an hour later. No doctors had come out to inform them of the condition of Leigh-Anne. She wasn't sure she wanted to know.

"Mum? I'm giving you the okay to ground me for life." Jesy muttered into her mother's chest. Jade's mother had come to bring her home already. Jade had cried and said that she wanted to stay but her mother didn't want her to stay at this tragic scene.

Janice laughed a little. "I'm not going to do that."

"But I deserve it. I killed my best friend."

"Jesy calm down and be quiet for me."

Jesy sighed and did as her mother told her. She felt her heart rate speed up when a doctor went to Leigh-Anne's mother and started conversing with her softly. Jesy licked her dry lips. Why so quiet? Did something happen? She thought as she sat up straight. She watched Leigh's mother's reaction carefully. She couldn't tell what the woman was thinking.

Leigh-Anne's mother suddenly stood and followed the doctor. Jesy stood too. "Mum?"

"Jesy you should sit. They didn't call you in there."

"But I want to see if she's okay."

Her mother shook her head slowly. "Sit."

Jesy sighed and did as she was told. "I want her to be okay."

Leigh-Anne was breathing easier. It was only because of the mask on her face. She was shaking like crazy from all the nebulizers they'd given her. This was like her seventh one. She felt like they'd tried tons of different medicines in them. She was happy that she felt better though. For a second she was sure that she'd be a goner.

The door to the room suddenly opened and her mother stepped in. Leigh-Anne smiled tiredly.

Debbie ran to he daughter's side. "I am so happy that you're okay sweetheart. Don't ever try something like that again." She kissed Leigh's forehead.

Leigh-Anne coughed weakly. "I won't Mummy. I'm never going outside again."

Debbie shook her head. "I was joking darling. I know that this wasn't your fault. You were just playing." She rubbed her child's shoulders. "I know that Jesy makes you excited but you need to learn to tell her no. When it's cold you shouldn't play outside." She said tenderly.

Leigh-Anne nodded. "Yes Mummy."

"Oh sweetheart. That was scary. You must be so tired right now." She picked up one of Leigh's hands and kissed it.

"Is Jesy still waiting for me?"

"Yes she's outside. Do you want to see her?"

Leigh-Anne was silent for a while. She remebered how much Jesy was crying over her as they drove to the hospital. She felt like the sight of her now would make the older girl feel guilty. "I do but I don't want her to feel guilty. She's blamed herself for all of this."

Debbie sighed. "Yes. I could see that. The poor thing." She shook her head. "Is there anything I could get you?"

Leigh-Anne shook her head. "I don't feel hungry or anything. I just want to sleep now." She smiled sheepishly. "I have a confession to make though. I ate something bad today. I was hungry and the boys gave us chips . . . I know that you said that it's not good to eat . . ."

Debbie chuckled. "Really Leigh-Anne? It's okay if you eat such things once in a while you know." She shook her head. "Now go to sleep. You said that you're tired."

Leigh-Anne sighed. "Don't you think you should go get my pullups just in case?"

Debbie thought for a moment. "You haven't wet the bed in a really long while. I think you'll be fine."
