Summer had officially begun. It was Saturday which marked the first day of the month long break from school for kids in London. Friday had been the award ceremony for their school and Leigh had gotten a ton of awards. Jesy'd received one for great effort shown through the school year and their friend Jade had taken home the prize for highest average in their class. Leigh had placed after her and Jake was fifth. Perrie had placed fourth in her class and had cried because Jade had done so much better than her.

Right now Jesy was sat in front of Leigh-Anne, watching the girl build a perfect house with her legos. Jesy had been doing something of her own before but what Leigh was doing had caught her eye. She could not look away. "Almost done?"

Leigh-Anne had a focused tongue to her cheek as she placed the last block in place. "Nope. I am all done." She smiled at Jesy.

Jesy clapped. "Excellent." She watched as Leigh dusted her hands off as if she'd done something difficult. "I still think that you should try to just do whatever you want sometimes though. It makes life interesting." She let out a sigh then looked towards the ceiling.

Leigh-Anne shrugged. "Next time." She looked at her watch. "When do you think our friends will be here?" She asked with a tilt of the head.

Jesy laughed. "I cancelled our playdate with them." She shrugged.

"But why?" Leigh had been really looking forward to whatever they would do.

"I just wanted to hang with you I guess." Jesy said still looking upward.

Leigh-Anne blushed a bit. "Okay." She said softly, looking at her lap. "Tomorrow is Sunday." She commented.

Jesy chuckled. "It sure is." She looked at her friend. "Why did you announce it though?"

Leigh-Anne grinned. "It's summer Jesy. People usually go to the beach on Sundays." She giggled. "We could ask our friends if we could all go to the beach. We could play."

Jesy thought. "Are there beaches around here?" She asked looking at her friend.

Leigh shrugged. "I don't know. You've been here longer than I have. You should know Jes."

Jesy shook her head with a smile. "I've never really driven around the place."

Leigh-Anne gasped getting an idea. "We should definitely go for a tour around the place this summer. Our friends would love it." She said smiling. "You and I have already seen this city from the top but it would be nice to have a good drive."

Jesy shrugged. "I feel as if Perrie might get car sick or something."

Leigh-Anne blew a raspberry with her lips. "Well it was a suggestion I guess. We'll all think of something to make the holidays count." She sighed dreamily.

Jesy liked that Leigh seemed excited for summer vacation. Boy is she gonna freak when I get her dem Rihanna tickets . . . when I figure out how the hell I'm gonna get them.  Her shoulders slumped and she sighed.

"Tell me about your past summers Jes. It doesn't have to be one with our friends. You can tell me about one from before that." Leigh-Anne said playing with the strings of her gray short sweat pants. She looked at her legs for a bit. There were still a few ant bites fading on them. That was one of the most terrifying experience of her life. Humiliating as well. She thought remembering the people who gathered around to watch.

Jesy pursed her lips together as she was thoughtful. She looked to where Leigh was playing with her clothes then held onto one of the strings. "I remember one summer where my Mum made us stay at her Mum's house. Grandma was nice. She gave us sweets. I remember that she had a hammock in her yard that me and Johnny swung on." She giggled. "I had fun."
